Who would have thought it would cold in the middle of the summer, cold enough for the little bundle wrapped in a "safety" blanket on the couch to be shivering

It could still be the anxiety and trauma of what the boy had just gone through for god knows how long

His legs were tucked under himself, his skinny arms curled around himself almost like he was trying to squeeze himself to death

He looked kinda like a kitten in a basket in a way.

He had short, curly blonde hair and eyes as green as the clear ocean
That were open in fear of the new surroundings and noises

The shirt he had on was obvious way to big on him due to the sleeve dropping off his shoulder.

Blue and red lights filled the living room due to the busted front door being wide open

Police officers surrounding the building asking empty questions about everything they could image to spit out

Ember sat in on the floor in the living room staring up at the small boy above him, he was on the couch at first but when he went to speak the boy only whispered "away" very slowly which Ember took as, move

So now he was on the stained carpet by the coffee table

He hadn't once looked away from the boy just in case anything were to happen.

By now Shapirus and Dakota were awake from all the commotion.
Saphirus startling awake from the sirens going off, they had snapped her out of a nightmare involving raging wolfs and the sound of people screaming and chains rattling

She had woken Dakota right away who was curled up in a ball, drool soaking his pillow, which she was still grossed out by

They had both found Ember silent on the floor oblivious to the boy on the couch due to being half asleep still

Yui was still outside, police officer after police officer asking her questions

All that she answered blankly

"Yes"
"No"
"I don't know"

She was in a daze from what just happened, the adrenaline long gone

the wound in her neck wasn't bad all he had done was tear back part of her skin which was now covered in dried up blood

But those words "you'll regret this" wouldn't stop screaming in her mind and that evil like laugh, it was almost haunting her.

The hell did that man mean?

The sound of the front door finally closing alerted everyone in the living room, the crackling sound of the splintered wood scrapping against the door is the loudest part of it

"They gone?" Ember asked, not bothering to look at Yui

"Yeah.." she said while yawning

"Is someone going to tell me why we're all up at five in the morning?" Shapirus asked

Ember and Yui both looked at the boy curled up on their couch, his head now buried in his knees
Light whimpering noises coming out of his mouth

"Him" Ember said nodding his head towards the sleeping being

"Some creep had tried to kidnap him"

Dakota's head popped up at that

"What kind of sick fuck would-" but he cut himself off when all three of them glared in his direction

"Language Koda" Yui scolded him causing him to duck his head in Shapirus's shoulder like a hurt puppy

"I heard a scream around three and I went and woke Ember up, I wasn't sure if it was dumb teenagers like us messing around or someone really in trouble so I waited but another one happened and it was a lot louder"

"So the screams came from him?" Shapirus asked while she looked at the same person as before

"Yeah..still not sure what was happening.."

A loud yawn cut through their conversation as Ember decided to lean his head against the couch, getting comfortable

"I think I'll stay here with him, just in cause yeno.." Ember told them

"Are we just going to leave him here?" Dakota asked, secretly worried about the boy on their couch

"Do we have a choice? I mean where else would he go?" Yui asked causing sighs of agreement from all of them

Sure they were used to either being up late messing around or one of them fooling around and going missing for a few hours and or days

But this had been like a bucket of ice cold water dumped on them, they were shocked and not quite sure what to do

They had a mystery sat, asleep in their couch
With no name and it almost seemed, no voice at all

And even though she tired to ignore it, Yui's mind wouldn't stop echoing those three words in the back of her head

It was slowly causing a headache of which they had no medicine to fix

She had many officers ask her multiple times "did you get a look at his face?" And yes she did but from the mixture of pain in her neck and the forming thunder in her skull she couldn't recall the mans features at the given time

All she could remember was his scratchy voice that sounded almost like a big dog barking and the skeleton like stature the man looked like

But of course that would get detectives and officers no where

They needed eyes, nose shapes, skin tone and hair color

But her mind just wouldn't scrape together those images, the whirlwind of multiple things made her feel like she was spinning a mile a minute.

"Yu, you look sick" Shapirus addressed in a tone that was very much similar to a worried mom

"I'm just exhausted" she replied honestly needing to just go curl back under her covers

"Go lay back down then"

"I'll go get Ember a blanket so we don't hear him thumping around in like thirty minutes"

With that Yui yawned, finally letting the tiredness drip into her eyes

She zombie walked back to her room and as soon as her cotton candy locks hit her pillow she was out

She didn't get to hear Shapirus waking Ember as she put a blanket over him and him pulling her down with him in a sleepy embrace
Her blueberry strands splaying out over his chest

Dakota had wondered back into their bedroom, curling back up with a pillow tucked under his arm
His eyes fixed on the ceiling until they wouldn't stay open any longer

Rhythmic heartbeats filled the room in a silence
