I barricaded my room, I was surrounded by demons. True demons out to devour souls, and demons who were cruel and out to harm others. I was afraid. Elijah, Vincent, and Aviana were demons out for souls. Hunter and Father were cruel and want to harm others. I didn't want to marry him, because I was afraid he didn't truly love me, but now I don't want to marry him because he is a dying man! I began to cry, I couldn't handle this, it was too much. I was tired of this, I just wanted everything to end, I felt a hand on me. I looked up, it was Elijah, I froze my eyes were wide, but his smile was gone it was replaced with something else I couldn't quite understand.

"My lady, I can explain everything you wish, but you'll have to go back with Lord Hunter before your father-"

"I don't care about Father right now! What are your intentions with me Elijah? Why does Vincent want Hunter's soul? Why is Aviana even mine? Or can I even call her mine?" I shouted, he seemed frozen, "Answer me damn it!"

He was silent for a little while, "Devour your soul my l-"

"No...I am your meal, why treat me like this?" I looked down curled up. "I just want answers Elijah..."

"We can discuss this another time, please before you are in trouble." He stood holding out his hand.

"A few more questions Elijah...please." I looked away from his hand, I focused intently on the cold marble floor.

"My lady-"

"You owe me at least that much Elijah." I said barely above a whisper.

"Very well my lady." He sighed, I don't know whether it was in defeat or in anger.

"Why me? Of all the people in the world, why me?" I struggled to hold back the tears that contained my sanity.

"Ten years of an abusive father, an absent mother, and no help can shape a soul wonderfully. Especially when the soul is not yet broken, all it needs is some nudging in the right direction, that, my lady, is your soul." He said emotionless, but I could tell he was hiding something.

"What is stopping you from taking my soul from me right now without your usual process?" I finally looked up at his eyes, my broken arm was visible. If he wanted to he could grab it and use it to hold me down as he takes my soul. Why is he waiting, and what is he waiting for?

"You are different, and doing that will just spoil the taste of your soul." He said, "Will that be all?" He looked at me intently.

"Yes, we may return." I was haunted by his answer.

He smiled at me, "Good, let us be off?" He held his hand out and I took it he looked at my broken arm and then smiled. He led me back to the marquis and Vincent, I was mostly silent for the rest of the evening.
