Chapter 14

What if she doesn't wake up? I've already lost my dad, and Mike? Well.. I'm happy about losing Mike, that's not even really a loss more like a miracle.

They wouldn't let me into the hospital room, so I lay on my bed thinking. When there's a knock on my door, I slowly walk down stairs, cracking open the door, peeking around it slightly. Anton.. Of course. But, as I opened it more, everyone was here. Anton, Alex, Jake, Austin... Angel. I let them all come in, Jake tackled me into a hug, "we heard what happened on the News," he whispered, "I am so, so sorry." Tightening his grip on me. "Thank you," I said so quietly it was barely audible.

Anton took a box out from behind him, gently handing it to me, with a big smile on his face, his blue eyes gleaming. I slowly opened the top, small holes poked everywhere. I set the top behind me and looked into the small box, to see a soft ball of fur curled up. "Meowww," I heard, as a tiny head looked up at me with wide eyes, and small ears twitching around.

"Oh my god, Anton, thank you." I said, reaching in and picking up the petite kitten, it's charcoal gray colored fur soft and fluffy, being able to lay flat on my palm, barely the size of my hand.

"What do you wanna name him?" Austin asked.

I laughed at the name that popped into my head, "Pika," I said. "Pika? As in Pikachu?" Alex asked. "Yeah, why not." I said, smiling with the name choice.

We sat on the couch, Pika napping peacefully in my lap. "I'm sorry..." Angel blurted out. "No you aren't." I said, " if you were, you wouldn't of done it in the first place." I snapped back.

"What are you guys talking about?" Jake confusingly asked. "Oh just the fact that Angel made out with Koda's boyfriend to make her mad.. You know. Nothing big." Alex explained, Jake looked hurt. He looked down at his lap, then at Anton, sitting there looking guilty. "And you let her do this?" Jake asked Anton, sounding betrayed.

"Well... I mean I... Yeah.. I mean no.. I didn't really stop her.. But.." Anton stopped talking, scratching the back of his neck. Angel leaned back in the chair, acting like we couldn't see her.

"Liars, you're both liars." Jake said shaking his head, he got up and walked out the front door.

I huddled Pika in my arms and went after him, "Jake stop." I said. When he turned I could see his eyes were red, and puffy. "It's not worth it... Really, she's not worth it." I said, Pika repositioning in my arms.

He looked me in the eyes, "I trusted this group more than I've trusted anyone. And this is what happens. I know you couldn't have forgiven Anton that easily could you? He didn't even get you that kitten. I bought it for you. And he said I should let him say it was from him to 'clear things up' I'm sorry but he's a scumbag. And you deserve better.. I deserve better." Jake finished, staring at the ground. I walked over to him and gave him a hug, Pika starting purring. Still having one arm wrapped around eachother we looked down at the small fur ball, and Jake started stroking down his back. The kitten purred louder, digging his tiny claws into my arm, I laughed. "So cute," I said, "I know you are," Jake responded. We looked into each other's eyes once again, this time even more deep.

Jake started to slowly lean in, I knew I would regret this... But I leaned in too.

Our lips collided softly, feeling his snakebites against mine. We leaned out, looking at each other again, then regaining our kiss.

The front door opened, and Alex walked out, "hey what movie do you guys wanna re-" she stopped her sentence and just stared. She smiled, " you two, are perfect for eachother. And deserve each other," she said, she turned to walk back in but stopped. "Don't worry. I won't tell." And disappeared inside.
