Colton and I drove to school that morning in my moms car. He had to navigate where I was suppose to drive since the amount of California I've seen so far is miniscule.
Nerves where starting to creep up it's October now so school has already started.
I grew up with the rest of my junior class back home and even though I didn't socialize with the majority of them I knew them. Thinking about all of the new introductions ahead terrified me with each second passing.
I decide to distract myself by getting to know Coltan a little better.
"So do you like high school?" I momentarily cringed at the question. We had been sitting in comfortable silence before I spoke but I couldn't just sit here and have my rising anxiety gnaw at me.
"Ah, yeah, it's alright I guess. I'm a freshman but my friends go to a different highschool so I'm still trying to meet new people and everything."
"Well you know more than me,"
I look over and give a little smile and am relieved as he returns it.We had never met before this, I briefly remembered my mother saying something about me having a cousin but we never got together for holidays like normal families.
"Oh, you turn here."
The building comes into vision making me want to stomp on the brakes and turn this car around.I pull into a spot far from the building to give me time to compose myself, maybe that's a worthless cause. The people around us start to thicken as we walk closer.
Okay this might not be so bad.
Trying to believe it and failing.Colton said his goodbyes and dissapeared into the crowd, god who knew this was going to be such a big school, or maybe I'm just used to our small town back home.
I had to ask three people where the head office was but still left hopeless. Getting frustrated I turn a corner looking down at the thing they call a "map" why isn't this thing straight forward and have a bigger font?
Before I could react I slammed into something -someone- warm. Hands steadying me before I can fall back firm but gentle and I look up to see a tall boy. Blonde hair tipped with fading pink and a slight smirk on his face. It dissapeared once he removed his hands, I realized I'd been staring but it was because he had probably the most attractive face I'd seen.
"Uh, thanks.." wow nice and dopey.
He tucked his hand into his pocket.
"No problem." His voice was so even and steady it was unnerving. He studied my face for a second and just like that he dissapeared just as quick as he came.
