The sound of my alarm clock sings throughout my dorm room and immediately I am awake. Not that I had much sleep anyway while I kept looking over my schedule repeatedly last night. No matter how many times I look over it, I still can't believe it's finally happening!
Todays the day. The day I've been waiting for, what seems my whole life. My first day of college! I never imagined attending University of Atlanta, seeing as it's about 800 miles from Pennsylvania but I'm so thankful I am. After everything that happened last year, I need a change of scenery. Part of me is scared about being so far from my home and not knowing a single person here, but I'm so thankful to get out of that small town and the people in it.
I'm not even sure if I want to know anyone here, I'm not sure if I can trust them. Trust anyone for that matter, not since that night.
I look at the bed next to mine and notice bags thrown on top of it. Whoever my roommate is, she must have come in late last night after I had finally fallen asleep. Considering my roommate still hasn't shown up yet to introduce herself, I can already bet she's going to be unreliable and rude.
I sit up from my uncomfortable twin size bed and pull the purple comforter off of me. I need to remember to search for a foam mattress topper. I can not go a whole year sleeping on this springy mattress. I try to calm my nerves as I look around my dorm room. The walls are covered in brick that appear to have been stained slightly red and brown to look older, more ancient. There's two decent sized windows- one next to my bed and one next to my ghost of a roommate. The floors are wooden, apart from the white fuzzy rug I had laid out last night. I hope my roommate doesn't mind, although I suspect she won't be here very often. There's two small wooden desks by both beds, mine filled with books and my laptop, the other with cd's and few textbooks.
I walk over to my closet and grab a pair of dark washed skin jeans and change into them. As I'm changing into a yellow tank top that's covered with flowers, I hear the door handle shake and next thing I know a girl with short blonde hair and beautiful brown eyes wearing white shorts and a black shirt that hangs off her shoulders walks in. She is stunning. I hope her looks doesn't mean she'll have a bunch of guys in here all the time.
"Uh, sorry!" I exclaim as I struggle to finish putting my shirt on as fast as humanly possible. "I was just getting changed and thought I had the door locked."
"That explains the half-naked girl I walked in on" she laughs, slightly embarrassing me. "And I have a key-." She holds up one exactly like mine. Of course she has a key, she's my roommate. "-I'm Chloe" she says while extending her hand to shake mine.
"I'm Cheyanne." I say still trying to figure out my new roommates vibe. It gets awkwardly quiet and I swear I can hear people breathing from ten miles away.
"I didn't hear you come in last night, you must be good at sneaking in," I say, instantly regretting sounding rude to the girl I have to spend the next year with. "I mean- sorry, I didn't mean-" I try apologizing while stumbling over my own words.
She laughs, yet again at me, "No, you're good. I am quite good at being quiet, when I need to be," she says with a smirk on her face. Okay then. "I stayed the night at my boyfriends place last night, he lives about 10 minutes off campus with a roommate."
As if he heard his own name, a guy with brown wavy hair, light brown eyes, and slight stubble around him face invites himself into our room. He seems pretty tall, well taller than my 5'4 height. He looks maybe 5'10? He's wearing grey jeans and a black sweatshirt.
