(A/n: This is the first page of The Rule Book Clementine was holding in the last chapter! Some of these might be a bit harsh, but I wanted to make the dystopian world seem perfect to the people living inside of Aelston (they've been raised on these rules, so they don't know how awful they truly are) and I wanted you guys, Clementine, and Victoria to be able to see the flaws in the system that the others can't! Rule #1:
DON'T BREAK THE RULES!
- If you do, there will be serve and unforgiving punishment.
Rule #2:
DO NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE OF THE SAME GENDER AS YOU!!!
- If you do, you and your so-called lover will be sent to a lovely concentration camp that's placed somewhere in the countryside. We do not tolerate this here. We accept transgender people and non-binary people as long as they can contribute to society and have a family with someone, but we do not support people of the same gender being together. We need to continue to birth new generations. (A/n: Orphanages don't exist in this world!)
Rule #3:
IF YOU ARE CAUGHT WITH ANY, AND WE MEAN ANY, ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES (drugs, alcohol, etc.) YOU WILL BE THROWN IN PRISON AND REHAB UNTIL YOU LEARN TO COOPERATE!
- Let's just say, the prisons aren't as nice as you might think they are.
Rule #4:
IF YOU SEE SUSPECT BEHAVIOR, REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY OR YOU TOO WILL BE THROWN IN PRISON WITH THE CRIMINAL!
- You'll both learn how to be best buds while sharing a cold cement cell. Enjoy your punishment.
Rule #5:
IF YOU FAIL TO SHOW UP FOR WORK, YOU LOSE HOW MANY MINUTES YOU WERE LATE FROM YOUR PAYCHECK!
- Try to be on time or else you could end up getting fired and we can assure you, we will give you another job, but the only job you'll be able to get is trash duty.
Rule #6
DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES OUR PAST GENERATION DID!
- Climate Change was a real thing back in 2019, let's not bring it back. Be respectful to the planet we live on. Mars is at its full capacity so we will have nowhere to go.
Rule #7
ALL GENDERS SHALL BE TREATED EQUALLY! RESPECT AND ASK PRONOUNS FIRST!
- If you do not accept someone for who they are, the person you harassed or insult can legally slap you.
Rule #8
RESPECT THE PRESIDENT AND GOVERNMENT!
- If you fail to show your support and appreciation of the president and the government, you will be charged with treason.
