Chris stumbled out of bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he peeked outside his window, looking for his mailman friend, only to be confronted once more with his harsh reality.
The gentle, old mailman had gotten butchered the night prior, his mangled body found torn to bits on the side of the road. The mail had been ripped to shreds and scattered around the heap of meant that made up a corpse. Of what was left of the body, stab wounds covered every visible feature. It was a miracle that his body had been identified at all.
The elderly man had no living relatives, as his wife had been found hanging from the ceiling of their shared bedroom, shards of glass dusting the carpeted floor. A recent family photo laid atop the ruin, depicting a once joyful family. A family ripped apart because of the disappearance of the grandchildren, who had gone missing at the local Freddy's.
Chris, after waiting a few minutes for his only remaining companion to arrive, shut the window behind him. Wiping back his final tears, he retrieved a cable from beneath his bed, something he had nicked for when he was ready to rejoin his family.
Standing on his bed, he clumsily wrapped the cable around the dusty ceiling fan, cutting his fingers a few times.
But that didn't matter, now did it.
Wrapping the cable about his neck, Chris tied it into a cute little bow, the only cheerful thing he had created since his sister disappeared. He hummed an old lullaby as he stood on his bed, pausing for a few seconds. Do I want to do this? Is there anyone left? Will anyone miss me?
You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear.
How much I love you.
You make the grey skies go away.
Chris jumped off the bed, struggling for a couple minutes as his body fought for life despite his mind screaming for death. Finally, his body stopped thrashing. A stillness came over the room, taking away the final Afton child away with the sound.
Willi-kins, why didn't you save him?
He was begging for help for years.
Why didn't anyone realize what was happening?
I won't save him this time, Afton.
You brought this upon yourself.
Enjoy your living hell.
