Michael yelled in pain as yet another spring lock was forced into his head. He gritted his teeth, his arms and legs chained to the ground. He was rendered immobile, forced to suffer through each stab of agony.
"Are you sorry now?" the deep voice hissed once again.
"Y-y-yes." Michael wheezed, unable to speak properly through the pain.
The voice laughed. "Wrong answer." A new spring lock appeared, twisting into the male's left hand.
Michael bit his lip once again, reopening the scab that had formed there. The pain began to fade, but he knew that as soon as the wound stopped aching, the next spring lock would go off.
Michael tried to look up, but the spring lock in his hand snapped, releasing a new wave of pain.
"How many times do you have to learn this lesson?" the voice snapped. "Eyes on the floor."
Another spring lock appeared on his neck, making Michael flinch from the ice cold metal. Tears welled in his eyes, on the verge of falling. Michael tried to suck them back in, for each tear meant another spring lock.
Nightmare stepped forward from the shadows, leering at his new pawn. Another one to add to his collection. "Pathetic. Nightmares like you shouldn't shed tears.
Michael couldn't stop the tears from falling. "Please stop doing this! I know what I did was wrong!"
Nightmare chuckled. "Tears are a sign of humanity. We both know you aren't human enough anymore to cry."
Michael felt the spring lock in his neck snap. He coughed, sending a spray of blood flying onto the floor. He could feel them all over his body, cutting away his sanity one by one. "Stop! Stop this now!"
Nightmare approached Michael, grasping the teen's head in his clawed hand. "And what will you do about it? You're weak. You're nothing."
Michael growled. "I'm not weak." He grabbed the chains around his arms, ripping them from the ground.
Nightmare lunged at the chains with his free arm, holding them tight. "Rebellious, are we?"
Michael squirmed, trying to break free. "Let me go. Or else."
Nightmare snarled. "Don't even try to escape. Even if you do, there's nowhere to run."
Michael tore his legs from the ground, swinging the chains at Nightmare. "I know there isn't, but at least I'll escape this endless torture."
Nightmare reeled back before grabbing at the chains, using their momentum to hurl Michael into the ground. He then lifted the teen into the air by his neck, a small trace of a grin crossing his face for an instant. "Now now. I can't let you run away. Not when there's so many more ways to make you suffer."
Michael clawed at the black, translucent hands crushing his windpipe. "W-why the hell are you doing this to me?"
Nightmare's laugh reverberated throughout the boy's mindscape as his vision dulled to nothingness.
