TEN YEARS LATER
yoongi and namjoon were walking in the halls of the middle school, just talking as they were on their way to class. "that class is so hard, joon. you shouldn't have taken it," yoongi said as he quickly ate his breakfast bar.
"i mean, playing the violin isn't EXTREMELY hard but there are other classes i need to pay attention to and i can't do that if i have to practice for an hour every day," namjoon complained. he didn't have breakfast because he woke up twenty minutes late and had to rush out of the house. "here," yoongi took a piece of his bar off from the other end and handed it to his best friend. "thanks, i'm starving."
the two had to part ways due to their difference of schedule. yoongi had to go to the art room to assist the teacher, he was a TA for her. namjoon had to go to band. the day went by quite quick, which yoongi isn't complaining. at lunch, yoongi saw that namjoon was talking to a boy.
yoongi went past them to get to the lunch line before it got too long. namjoon noticed and through his power of telepathy, he told yoongi to get extra for him. somehow, yoongi got that message and got an extra bag of chips and a small carton box of chocolate milk.
yoongi placed his trey on the table and shocked the two that were talking. "yoongi, meet jeongguk, jeongguk meet yoongi, my one and only bestie," namjoon smiled.
"hello, yoongi! i just met namjoon like five minutes ago. can i eat with you guys?" jeongguk asked, showing off his bunny smile. yoongi smiled softly and nodded his head.
"i have one friend but he's sick and couldn't make to school. i got so lonely but i saw namjoon alone and i thought we could become friends but i guess he already has you," jeongguk ment yoongi. yoongi cleared his throat, "who says we can't all be friends?"
jeongguk giggled, "so seokjin can join tomorrow?"
"sure."
"i bet all four of us will be fun!" jeongguk smiled widely but namjoon and yoongi were silent.
"five."
"what? did i miss someone?"
"yes. hobi."
"yoongi don't get mad. he didn't know, okay?" namjoon tried to soothe yoongi's anger. namjoon already knew that no one should ever mention or forget hobi. it was something yoongi only knew. namjoon predicted that something bad happened to hobi and that is why yoongi's always so angry when someone forgets hobi. at this point, namjoon was worried. yoongi's mother tried desperately to try to tell yoongi that hobi was not real but every time she said something, yoongi would yell at the top of his lungs.
"i need to go to the restroom," yoongi got up from his seat and quickly left the two.
"i'm sorry. i didn't know," jeongguk then felt bad that he lost his appetite. "it's okay, jjuk. i need to look out for him. he's not in the right state of mind right now. if the bell rings before he come back, can you throw away our trash? i'll pay you back later, i promise," namjoon rushed. "it's okay, i got it," jeongguk sadly said as he watched namjoon running behind yoongi.
"yoongi," namjoon quietly called for his friend. he went straight to the bathroom to find yoongi silently crying in one of the stalls. namjoon knocked on the door to make sure that yoongi wasn't doing anything. yoongi opened it for him. his eyes were already red and his sweater already had tear stains. namjoon hugged yoongi tightly.
"i-i'm we-weak, j-joonie," yoongi silently said. he was degrading himself again.
"no you're not, yoongs. you are the strongest man to stand on earth. there is no one that can compete with you. emotionally and physically. hobi will always love you for you. as well as me. if you ever think like that then i will hunt you down and tell you all the reasons why you are strong," namjoon said. yoongi smiled at everything that namjoon said. yoongi still had tears on his face, to which namjoon wiped off. "now, jeongguk still thinks it's his fault, you should go tell him."
yoongi didn't say anything but he got up and walked slowly to the lonley boy. yoongi saw that jeongguk wasn't eating and had an expression of worry on his face, "eat," was the only thing yoongi said to the boy the whole day.
"he had a minor breakdown," namjoon laughed. yoongi playfully slapped namjoon's arm to tell him to shut up.
"but are you okay?" jeongguk asked yoongi. he only nodded. "can i still bring seokjin or should i just leave?"
"no no no, bring seokjin tomorrow! yoongi's just in a mood," namjoon nervously laughed. jeongguk just played along and began eating his food with only five minutes left of lunch. once lunch ended, jeongguk went to his own class.
