11) Shownu & Minhyuk - MONSTA X

He's not mad. You can do it, Jen. Jennie thought as she stood infront of the door.

Taking deep breaths, she slowly raised her hand to knock and slowly stepped inside. The moment she did, there was no one around. Sighing, she approached the table and placed the folder on top of it.

Noticing a lot of files, she couldn't help herself from pitying Shownu.

"He's too busy." she whispered to herself. "Maybe that's why I couldn't see him because he's stuck in his office to finish all these reports." she muttered.

"Really?" She almost jump in surprise when she heard his voice from
somewhere she didn't know. The chair that was facing the glass wall behind suddenly turned around, only to see Shownu sitting down there. "What made you think of that?"

Blinking her eyes, she didn't stared at him and tried looking down in
embarassment. "I-I'm very sorry... sir."

Shownu had his cold expression as he looked up at her scared expression. It was like he was killing her with his deadly stares. "Don't be too proud of
yourself, Ms. Kim."

Jennie stayed silent.

Shownu couldn't remove his gaze from her. He couldn't remove from his mind what he saw the other day.

With a smile plastered on his face, Shownu walked along the building alone as he passed by his employees and greeted them the way he never did before.

He was a cold boss who always wears a poker face, scaring his co-workers
just by looking at him. And he knew what made him change like that.

Walking towards the employee's office, he was greeted by the people coming out to have their lunch break and he did the same. He spotted Jennie eating inside. He was about to ask her that he came to fetch her for lunch when he suddenly saw Minhyuk beside her.

They were smiling to each other as they talk. The sight of it made his heart sting a bit. So that's why she didn't reply to his text before as she was with his stupid half-brother all along.

Suddenly, Minhyuk wiped the sauce that was evident on Jennie's left cheek with a tissue. Their faces were too close and he knew they were about to kiss.

Clenching his fist in anger, he turned to his shoe and walked away.

Meanwhile, Jennie couldn't help the awkward atmosphere that was going on between her and Minhyuk so she pulled her face away from his and thanked him for the lunch treat before proceeding to eat her food.

Noticing her phone beside her, her eyes immediately widened at the sight
of Shownu's message that appeared on her phone.

I'm fetching you up for lunch break. Make yourself free on that time. ~ Shownu Sir.

Noticing her expression as she watch her phone, Minhyuk asked her. "Are you alright?"

Jennie turned to face him with a nod. "Yes, I... am." Minhyuk nodded while Jennie thought how she could face Shownu after this. She didn't want to leave Minhyuk as it would be rude to do that.

Looking at the folder, Jennie noticed Shownu's brows furrowing. Jennie started to get nervous.

"What is this?" he asked angrily. "Is this all you could do? It's not even
possible for the company to increase the sales. What are you trying to pull off Ms. Kim?"

"I-I'm sorry sir. It was just---"

"Yeah, I hope you really are." Shownu cutted her off. "What makes you so
distracted Ms. Kim? You're not the one we hired before or even the top
employee I used to know." his words hurt her deep inside but she couldn't
make it too obvious. "Why don't you continue eating your lunch while flirting with the other successor of the company, huh? Mr. Lee Minhyuk is not allowed to date you."

Jennie's eyes widened at him.
So, he saw us? He saw Minhyuk and I that day? That's why he's too angry to
even look at me whenever he happens to pass by? Jennie thought to herself.

But Shownu already crossed the boundary. She had always thought he
wouldn't say such things to a girl, especially a fragile one as her. Unable to hold herself, a tear suddenly trickled down her cheek. Shownu froze in his chair at the sight of it.

"I'm very sorry if I didn't do well with this sir." she tried speaking. "I'm very
sorry if I wasn't myself in the past days. I'm sorry to upset you with my failures. I'm very sorry to hurt you and ignore your presence. I'm very sorry for being a friend with your brother." she started crying. "I'm very sorry---"

Hearing the chair creaking against the tiled floor, Jennie didn't noticed
Shownu standing up and made his way towards her.

Cutting her off, Shownu pulled her by the waist, making the gap between
them disappear. Jennie flinched at the action but she was too late to even
react when Shownu lowered his head, pressing his lips against her for a
kiss.

Her eyes shut wide open as his lips moved against hers. Tears continued
gushing down her face until she found herself closing her eyes, letting Shownu kiss her passionately.

Minhyuk made his way towards Shownu's office. Noticing the small gap left between the door, he wasn't able to knock so he slowly opened it. He was about to greet Shownu when he witnessed him kissing the girl he like.

Jennie's back was on him. He knew from the start that his Shownu hyung like her, so he tried to get Jennie's attention away from him. He was feeling at ease everytime Jennie was with him. He always thought that she felt the same way for him but witnessing this right now, he had doubts clouding his mind.

Slowly closing the door, a sigh escaped from his mouth.

Maybe we're not really for each other after all. Minhyuk thought to himself before walking away. Take care of her, hyung.
