Chasing Ari (a 1D Fanfic )

Chapter 20

***Niall's POV***

The sky was a sickly dark grey and the clouds rumbled on for what seemed like days. It sounded as if the sky was about to break into pieces and fall to Earth. The rain had already flooded out some of the streets, turning part of the city as difficult as crossing a river. 

Harry seemed a little dissapointed, we had only made it to the 12th hole before it started to pour. We went back to his place quickly, and decided it be best to to venture outside. I'm glad we decided that, not even 20 minutes after we arrived home, thunder began to ravage the sky. 

Harry was busy texting Sydney. Again. I was about to video call Liam on Skype. He had text me saying to get on Skype. That he wanted to talk to me about something. 

When Liam's facing popped up on the screen, I was a little more than shocked. Rather than his usually long, luscious locks -well, they weren't that long, or luscious, but still- , he had  trimmed his hair again and now sported a quiff.

"What is this I see? Has Liam Payne joined the quiff movement?" I ask with a laugh.

"Yes, mate. You're looking at the newest member," he winks. 

"So, what's so important that we needed to talk?" I inquire.

"Oh, yes. Okay," he starts. I lean forward in my chair, waiting for him to continue. "So, I know this is really short notice. But a close friend of mine is having his birthday party, you remember Cory? The one that is going to be opening a nightclub? Well, its his birthday, and they're have a really big bash. And it would mean a lot to me, if all the boys come, too." Liam says, making one of the best puppy faces I've seen in the world.

"Well, of course we'll go, Liam. Wouldn't miss it." I say with a smile..

"Oh thats wonderful. It would really be great to have you all there. Plus, Lou and I haven't seen you since the last show, so it'd be great to have a night where we call all unwind and relax and just have fun together." he smiles and runs his hand through his hair. Its true. The boys and I haven't had time to relax and just have fun together. The last time we saw each other was during a performance, then we all went out separate ways for a while. Liam and Lou went to Orlando, The rest of us visited family before coming back to Naples. It'll be great to reconnect.

"So when is it going to be?"

He pauses for a second. "Member how I mention short notice? So, the party is tomorrow." he is silent for a second. "I'm  really really sorry I didn't mention it before."

Wait, Tomorrow? Tomorrow?

What am I going to do? I have a date with Ari tomorrow. And I can't just cancel like that. No way. Not the day before. Maybe I can reschedule? Call a rain check or something.

Maybe I'll miss the party. 

No, no. What kind of friend would that make me? This party is only going to happen once, and I can reschedule the date for any day later. Considering Ari would be okay with it.

"What wrong mate?" Liam asks, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

I put on a fake smile, "Nothing. I'm just going to have to move somethings around. I'm still going to get you lads from the airport tomorrow, right?"

"Yes, thats the plan." Liam nods.

"Alright. Okay, okay." I say absentmindedly, think about what I"m going to do. I am going to have to call her asap.

 I can't wait any longer. The longer I wait, the worse its going to look.

First, I'm canceling the day before. Which is a big no-no. If I wait until tonight to call her, it'll be worse. It's only about 4 or 5 o'clock but still. I feel a tad bit guilty about having to cancel. 

 What am I even going to say? Oh, by the way, can't make it tomorrow, I got a party I have got to get to.

Yeah, because thats what real gentalemen do.

Note the sarcasm..
