at peace.

they had caught eyes in a cafe. the whole cliche.

he had spent five hours cooped up in his studio with a blank mind, playing notes that lacked creativity, clarity and an actual tune. he had to leave. he had to get out. to be reminded that he was human, and not a machine that could go on forever.

she had been derived of coffee, waking up at six am to find the jar meant to be filled with the rich aromatic beans empty. she just had to get fuel.

they had both found themselves in the cafe at the edge of town. the one with the pretty fairy lights draped on the windows and comfy reading spots.

she sat in the far corner, surrounded by fluffy cushions and pillows, wrapped up in her cashmere scarf and woollen hat, eyes widening by the second as the plot of her immensely interesting book became deeper. on the softwood table, she had her americano and a chocolate croissant. a chocolate croissant because she'd forgotten to eat at home due to her blindly raged fury caused by the missing of her damned coffee.

he had obliviously sat in the table right in front of her, setting his cup of black coffee on the wood and laying his coat across his chair. he just wanted a quiet morning. where he didn't have to think about anything or anyone. but instead, he saw her and his mind raced while his heart slowed.

her mouth was gaping open, taken back by the events occurring in her book, eyes big and bright, sparkling as they moved along the page, following the words. he didn't mean for this to happen. he didn't mean to stare at her. but the longer he did, the more he felt...at peace.
