"Can we talk Khloe?" Will asks standing at the door of the kitchen. I turn around and face him. He looks so upset.

"Sure, you okay Will?" I'm instantly worried about him.

"So I finally called mam. You might want to sit down Khlo." He says releasing a shaky sounding breath. I perch on a kitchen stool, my heart is in my throat. I know where this is going. I don't know how to continue without tipping him over the edge. "Yeah she had just gotten out of a hospital appointment." He looks up at me, just seeing the tears begin to form make me tear up. "So she's started treatment for," he pauses and lets out a breath. "For cancer Khlo." At this he breaks down and my heart physically breaks looking at him. I take a deep breath but I just don't know what to say to make the situation better. He glances up and me and I just can't meet his eyes. "Khloe. Say something?" He whispers. I just shake my head. "You knew?" He asks "Is that why you decided to come live with me? Leave her to struggle by herself. That way when she dies you're already with me and safe?"

"It's not like that." I say. Big mistake.

"No?" He suddenly snaps. "Is it not? Our mother has cancer Khloe and you leave her on her own to come spend time with me pretending to live your best life? Khloe I've spent a year shutting mam out! Neither of you told me this news, how long have you known? How many months could I have been there and supported her?" He has tears streaming down his face but I cant tell if its anger tears or heart break tears.

"I tried to tell you the first day I came here but you shut me out, changed conversation." I burst out.

"SHUT UP!" He shouts swiping his arm over the counter launching a box of tea bags in my direction. I know its just tea bags, but still I flinch. The tears are flowing down my face by now. I try looking at Will.

"But Will." I whimper.

"Get out my sight Khloe. You make me sick. I don't want to see you." He says whipping the moisture from his cheeks. I freeze unsure if he means just go to my room or genuinely get out. "Why are you still here! GET. OUT." He looks furious, and rightfully so. I decide its best I do genuinely get out the flat. So I turn and leave. I'm in the lift waiting for it to glide down to the lobby while I pull my phone out of my pocket, fumbling with my passcode before bringing it to my ear. He needs to pick up.

"Hello it's George." His voice says.

"George please tell me you're at home."

"AHHHHHH I'm just kidding, it's my voicemail, leave a message. MemeLord out." he says before the beep sound goes off.

"Son of a bitch." I say hanging up. By this stage I'm out in the street tears still streaming as I press the next contact.

"Hey Khloe." Alex says. I can't even speak. "Khloe? You okay?"

"I fucked it." I say sobbing gently into the phone. I slide down the wall of the apartment building and sit on the cold, hard ground.

"Where are you? I'm near your place? Want me to come get you?" He asks sounding worried.

"I'm outside." I say as my breath catches and I sob a little harder.

"I'll be 5 minutes Khloe, hang on for me!" He says before I hear him speaking to whoever he was with. "Hey I need to cut this short, emergency. I'll make it up to you." I zone out and just sob into the phone. My mind racing over what has just escalated moments before. He had got it so wrong. I wasn't abandoning our mum. Yet why do I suddenly feel like I am now he has said it?

I'm in such a state by the time Alex arrives. I'm getting all the really weird looks from passers by. I mean I'd be staring too if I saw a 19 year old girl having a breakdown outside quite a busy apartment building on the outskirts of the wharf. Yet not one single person approached to ask if I was okay. Not that I would know what to say if a stranger did ask me that. On one hand I'm clearly not okay. But it isn't a situation I'd want to explain to a stranger. Society is just shit. They're happy to stare but no one wants to get involved. I gasp as a warm hand touches my back.
