CHAPTER TWO: DARKEST HOUR

The meeting had begun and Aminah sat close to where King T'Chaka was speaking. She had to be vigilant of his surroundings. Aminah looked around the room, all had their eyes locked onto the Wakandan King. Aminah let her back hit the chair gently, hoping there was nothing to worry about.

She listened to T'Chaka talk about how, with the Accords, the Avengers can choose whether to work together with the U.S. Government and announce themselves publicly or stay vigilant and hide their identities.

Aminah knew Captain Rogers would never agree to something like that. He wanted to keep the team together. Unlike Tony. All he wanted was to fight off bad guys so he can go home and never have to worry about them anymore.

Just the thought made her blood boil. Like she said before, she hate his guts. He only thinks about himself and not of others. Aminah shook her head and continued to listen to T'Chaka.

"Aminah?"

Aminah's eyebrows furrowed as she heard that through her comms, quickly looking around before responding.

"T'Challa?"

"Good, you can hear me. Listen, there's something going on outside. I don't know what it is, but something's wrong. We need to get everybody-"

T'Challa paused mid-sentence which made Aminah look around for him. As soon as she spotted him turning his head towards her near the window, she definitely knew something was wrong. The look on his face said all kinds of terror. Aminah quickly got up from her seat and quickly rushed over to T'Challa and looked to see what was going on.

Dogs were sniffing a van just outside the building and they were coming out, barking and pulling at it. Everyone began to run away from it and T'Challa and Aminah both realized that there was a bomb.

They both looked at each other before she looked at everyone else.

"EVERYONE, GET DOWN!" They both screamed to everyone as people quickly got scared. T'Challa tried to make it over to T'Chaka, but the blast went off.

The explosion rocked the building, causing T'Chaka to go flying off his feet and T'Challa across the room. Aminah, however, was not so lucky. Just as the blast hit, she was thrown across the room too, hitting her head a little too hard on the ground and blacking her out.

"No.." T'Challa cried out as he looked at his father, who was laying motionless. He crawled over to his father, pleading that he was okay. But as soon as he got over to him, the King was gone. His eyes laid wide open and lifeless. T'Challa let tears down his face as he held his father close, not wanting to let him go.

"Help! Somebody, help! Please!" That voice sounded familiar to T'Challa and he looked to see Natasha, Wanda, and Rachel huddled over someone. T'Challa looked down at his father before slowly letting him go and making his way over to the three women.

"Prince T'Challa! Thank God! It's Aminah! Can you help her?!" Rachel exclaimed as she held the woman in her arms. T'Challa's eyes widened when he saw his friend laying there motionless. He couldn't believe it. He just lost two people in one day. He felt so alone at that moment. He held his best friend's limp hand and began to tear up when he saw her.

"We need to get out of here." Natasha said as she looked around. "How are we going to get out of here when we're literally 15 floors up and it's just flames below us! We'll never make it out!" Wanda exclaimed to Natasha.

The two women argued frantically back and forth and T'Challa sat paralyzed, unable to think of what to do.

"Um..guys?" The three quiet down and looked over to Rachel. She looked down at her friend's hand which was glowing a bright orange. Then, out of nowhere, Sparks started flowing towards her. Rachel and the others were confused until a stream of flames came flying through, nearing burning Rachel in the process.

The flames that were engulfing them were now being extinguished. The flames were being absorbed by Aminah and now it was getting more and more better to breath.

As soon as the flames were out, Aminah slowly opened her eyes, her eyes glowing a fiery orange as they did. The blood that was oozing from her head from hitting it on the ground was now slowing down to the point where it stopped.

"Aminah? Are you okay?" Wanda asked as Aminah looked over at her.

"I.. I'm okay." Aminah said with a small smile. Everyone sighed in relief, mostly T'Challa, before Aminah looked around.

"We better get out of here. This whole thing will collapse on us if we don't go." Natasha pointed out as the three acknowledged. Wanda amd Rachel went to make a way to the door while T'Challa and Natasha helped Aminah to her feet.

"Hey, Aminah. I saw what happened. You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a scab in the back of my head. That's about it." Aminah spoke to Steve as she rubbed her head gently. "Listen, I've seen the news. I know they're blaming the Winter Soldier for this, but I'll be honest, I don't think he did it."

"Neither do I. He's being framed. I'll try to meet with you at the bar and grill across the block from the UN building in 15." Steve assured as Aminah nodded.

"Okay, thanks, Steve. Be careful."

"You too, Aminah. I'll see you soon." Aminah hung up the phone before she got up off the Ambulance and walked slowly towards the benches where she saw T'Challa, his white dress shirt covered in blood, so was his navy blue blazer, his face.

He looked terrible.

Aminah sat down next to him, unsure of what to say but knew exactly how he felt.

"I'm going to kill him." She heard as her fiery orange eyes looked at him in fear.

"Wait, T'Challa.."

"No, Aminah." He said he stood up from the bench. "He killed my father. So I'll give him the same in return."

"You don't know that. He could've been framed. Look at reason, T'Challa." Aminah said as T'Challa scoffed while looking at his father's ring.

"You know, Aminah, I thought you, of all people, would understand my anger, understand why I'm so upset. Apparently, I was wrong."

And with that he walked away, leaving Aminah speechless.
