I’ve been running, no sprinting for 20 minutes now, on pure adrenalin. I was gasping for breath when I stopped and leaned on a tree to catch some breath. I heard the heavy footfalls of Sheer’s boots dangerously close so I started sprinting again. Then I started to hear music. It was faint at first but got louder by the minute.

When I thought I was close enough, I tried to yell for help, but it came out something like this, “Huff huff huff huff. H…Hel…Help.” I ran closer and saw a cabin.

Just when I thought that I could muster enough breath for yelling, I was lifted into the air by my neck and turned around.

“Thought you could escape me, Love,” he sneered. “Think again.”

I sneered back, or at least tried to, “I…huff huff…can. I’ve…huff…done it…huff…before…you…you…dog.”

He roared and threw me at the cabin and I went through the wall and literally crashed a party.

“What the…,” some screamed. “Where did you come from?!? GET OFF OF ME!”

I glanced around. I was in the middle of a room on top of someone. “S…sorry,” I wheezed. I rolled off him and went to my feet. There was a kitchen right next to me, so I darted in and grabbed a couple of knives. “Can i…huff huff…borrow…these?”

No answer, so I took that as a yes. I hurt everywhere, but I didn’t look at my wounds. It would just slow me down. There was no sound outside and with caution; I slowly went to the hole with the people still staring at me with horror. I didn’t hear anything so I stepped out, only to regret it. A fist flew out of nowhere and hit me square in the face, making me fly back through another wall as I cried out.

“HOLY MOTHER OF CHEESE,” someone screamed, and I thought, ‘Mother of Cheese? Never heard that before.’

I stumbled out of the other room with the one knife that I surprisingly didn’t drop. Sheer grinned, looking like a monster with his canines, “Show time.” Then he lunged at me.

I did my best at blocking his attacks, but I knew that sometime, he’ll get lucky, or I’ll tire out. Most likely both. And he knew that. He was just toying with me, tiring me out. But I tried to stay strong. Then, he did get lucky. I was expecting for him to slice at me with his Katana, but instead he punched me in the stomach. “Uggh,” I moaned from the floor. I rolled to the side as the Katana sliced the spot I was just at a second ago. Then I hit a wall. Shoot. I was trapped.

“Nowhere to go eh, Love,” Sheer licked his canines again. “Maybe I’ll just wound you. I don’t think that they’ll mind if you only have one leg, would they,” he mused.

“You dog,” I gasped. “Don’t call me Love. I could never love you…you…you hideous thing!”

He roared and brought down his Katana, not at my legs though, but at my stomach. I closed my eyes.

Clank!

I opened my eyes to see a Khopesh sward blocking the Katana. I moved my eyes to the person who was holding the Khopesh. It was a guy with short black hair. He was about 5’9” with muscles. But his eyes were red. “Wha…,” I began but he interrupted me.

“Sollux, move her! I got the dude!”

“I’ll help mew, Karkitty,” a voice cried out, and with that, a female pushed Sheer away.

Sheer looked surprised. “What the…who…” Then he regained his composure. “DO NOT TOUCH HER! SHE IS MINE!!! DO YOU HEAR! MINE!!!!

I was being helped up by a different boy, Sollux I think, when Sheer screamed this, and the dude stopped. He looked at me curiously, “Iith thiith true? Are you hiith?”

He has a lisp, I thought with a muddled brain. “H-his,” I forced out of my crushed lungs. “N…no.” My head felt ti heavy for me to hold up and everything started to fade. The last thing I remember was me throwing my knife at Sheer and somewhat yelling, “Go…to…Hell…Sheer Goth.”
