"Unpack your boxes Tara! We're going round Kevin's in an hour!" I heard mum call up from downstairs.
"Oh for goodness sake..." I really hate Kevin. "Okay, I'll be down in a minute!" I shout down.
I'd just moved to Sydney after my parents split. Mum had already found a new boyfriend, an Australian. I finish a box of books, then I decide to give up and finish the rest later on. I put my nirvana shirt and shorts, with my doc martins and a woolly cardigan. I scrape my wavy hair back into a messy bun and adjust my eyeliner before I leave my room.
"You'll finish your other boxes later then, okay?" Mum asks.
"Yes! I have way too much stuff..." I say crunching on an apple.
"Right fine, oh I forgot, can you run this to the neighbours?" She says, holding an oven dish out.
I groan loudly as I take the tray. I lived on the end of a beautiful street, so I only had one house next to ours.
I walk out the door, and head to the other house, slightly embarrassed about the state I was in...
I arrive at the door and knock. I hear a male voice shout 'just a sec' before the door opens wide.
"Um hi, my mum made me bring these over." I mumble, looking at my feet.
"Hey! Thanks, so your the new neighbour then?" The boy says, taking the tray.
"Yeah, I'm Tara...I'm about to start Riverside High...its quite a trek but...yeah. Sorry, I talk a bit..." I say putting my sweater paws to your face.
"Oh wow, me and my friends go there, I'll get them to look out for you as well...I can always drive you there?" He smiles.
I look up and finally see the boys cheery face.
"Yeah...that'd be great..." I smile.
"Awesome, well it was nice meeting you. I'm Calum by the way." He smiles back slowly closing the door as I turn and leave.
I walked back to mine with a wide grin spread across my face. Calum.
I waltz back into my house smiling. My mum was frightened.
"Why are you smiling like a freak for?" She laughs.
"The neighbour, is really cute!" I squeal.
"Ah, I should've guessed..."she smiles.
"Did somebody say cute?"
We both turn around and see Kevin stood there.
Urgh. I hate him. Mum runs up to hug him as I continue to sit at the breakfast bar.
"Hey Tina, how you doing squirt?" He laughs, nudging my cheek slightly.
"Im fine..." I mumble.
"Its Tara, her name's Tara" mum laughs.
"I'm going to bed." I mutter.
I storm up the stairs and slam my door. I hate him so much. I fall asleep to the thought of my hatred towards Kevin.
