We rode for about three hours, unyielded by the soft rainfall. We arrived in the border town of Arcadia around midnight. Matt hopped off of his horse boots splashing in the newly formed mud. He rounded back to the
carriage, speaking directly to the window, "We need to stop here in Arcadia for about a half hour."
I hopped of the horse, leading her to a nearby bin. I walked inside the bar and undid my scarf around my face. Finishing, I walked to the man at the bar. "How much for a quick meal?" I asked
"15 spade gold, 12 hearts gold, 10 diamond gold," the man said in a gruff voice, "If you're escorting that carriage, I'll have to ask ya to unhitch it and let the horses drink. It's a long way to News Dale and they'll need it."
"That's our intentions," I said, as Matt walked in.
"Amelia, should the old men stay in the carriage?" Matt said, "Our do you want them to come in."
"Let them stay out there, the rain isn't too bad," I said leaning against the beer covered bar, "We'll get them some food."
Matt left. "Amelia," the man sniffed, "like the princess?"
"Yes," I said quickly
"What the hell is a future royal doing here in Arcadia?" He said, curiosity peaked.
"Nothing of interest," I said pulling out some coins.
"I see," He continued his work, "It may be informal to ask but do you want a beer?"
"I'll take 4 if ya wouldn't mind," I said, finishing the count.
"Well that'll be on the house," He gruffly stated handing me 4 bottles, "And the meals will be done in about 5 minutes."
"Thank you sir," I left the money on the table and walked outside.
The weather changed from a drizzle to a mild rainfall. I walked out to the carriage, hopping on the border. I leaned into the open window, "Who wants beer?" I said in
Arthur and Wangs hands went up and I handed it off. In leaned out and sat down next to a very wet Matthew. Water had stuck his blonde hair to his forehead. I handed him the bottle. He smiled and took it. I sat next to him, rain water splashing all over me. I got the top off and began to drink. "So why'd you buy beer?" Matt asked
"I got it for free, thank you very much." I elbowed his arm, "and we'll probably need it."
"You have mysterious ways of getting shit." Matt leaned back
"Your Highness," a girls voice yelled out of the bar door
"Yes?" Matt and I said at the same time. I hit his arm.
I walked through the door, greeted by about five guys, carrying some sort of a crowbar. I drew my knife, electricity crackled. Matt heard the commotion, and ran in, sword drawn. "Two royals, good on ya Marcus," One of the burly guys grinned, "The rebellion will reward you."
"Damn rebellion," Matt hissed.
"You think that will get more because it's the very princess that'll be our downfall." Another one laughed.
I felt my fist connect with his jaw. At this point, the group descended on me and Matt. I heard cursing and general commotion. I heard the door open. I felt the cold air on my back and I was sucker punched. I landed hard on the ground. My knife landed to side out of reach. The apparent attacker was a red headed girl, knuckles bleeding, she cussed me out. I saw from blurred vision a long staff. Her body tensed and she landed on top of me. I got up, shaking. Wang had staff in hand.
Arthur was pulling Matt off of the guy I had sucker punched. I leaned against wall. I felt like my face had been through a grinder. But the fight had been won regardless.
