Factions...
What are they?

Factions is what we call our groups.
In Chicago we live in a society of 5 different factions.

What do they do?

Factions separate one groups traits and skills from another. That's what keeps us in working order, and stay in balance. We've done this for so long, that we don't bother with change, or question it.

What are the 5 factions?

They are Erudite, Candor, Amity, Abnegation, and Dauntless.

The Erudite's are the intelligence. They basically keep their noses in books, eyes on microscopes, and hands on pencils. They are the ones who value knowledge and logic.
They are our scientists.

The Candor are the honesty. They tell nothing but the truth... Even when they wish to not. They can also read others body language, which can be a let down for others. The way they tell the truth is that they inject a serum that forces it out, no matter the pain.
They are the lawyers, and judges.

Those who honor peace and harmony belongs in Amity... They always walk around with a kind smile. No matter what. People consider them the druggies, which they are. The bread they eat is filled with a drug that makes them feel at peace. But it isn't always good. Some twitch and shake from the amounts of bread they are loaded with.
Although they are drugged, their peaceful way resorts them to work as farmers. They control the Chicago food storage. Which in my opinion, is handy. Because if one faction were to get out of line with Amity, then that faction could possibly starve. But they might be too kind to do that.

The ones who are helpful and selfless, they're Abnegation. They spend their lives putting others before themselves. They even help the Fationless, but I'll talk about them later.
They even have a dumb rule where they are only aloud to look in the mirror 5 minutes a month. They say that they reject vanity, which is still dumb.
But since they are apart of the community, they're made as our government.

And then there's Dauntless. The brave... They spend their lives recklessly. Climbing buildings. Jumping off moving trains, and anything else that is life threating. People say that they're crazy; which I guess they're right.
Their heroic bravery settle them down us our police. The protector of the place.

For those who don't belong anywhere end up becoming Factionless. Since they don't belong in a Faction, they are homeless, without a real purpose. Unless it's to make Abnegation seem useful.

How can you see the difference in the Factions?

That is very simple. Each Faction has a specific color code.
Erudite- Mostly blue, with a bit of white.
Candor- White, with a bit of black.
Amity- A mixture of orange and yellow, with a bit of green.
Abnegation- Plain grey. They're not the colorful type, which is boring.
Dauntless- Black, with some red. That makes them seem tougher.

We also have logos for each Faction.

Now there's me... Scarlet Redder.

Which Faction am I from?
Well I'm a Candor born, but I'm an Erudite transfer...
And no. I did not choose it at the choosing ceremony.

Sometime before I turned the age of 5, both of my parents went missing. But after a few days, their bodies were found dead under an old bridge. Some say that they committed suicide. Others say that they were murdered.

Since my parents passed away, I was immediately transferred to Erudite; where my brother, Samuel, transferred to. He chose Erudite at the Choosing Ceremony when he was 16.

He is still to this day broken from the loss of our parents, and blames me for it. He copes by taking his anger out at me, everytime we are alone. And if he isn't hitting me in anyway, then he'd be either doing his studying, at work, or belittling me with his harsh words. Well, either he's still mourning, or he's just grown accustomed to this life style. This horrid life style.

So I was never raised like other kids are... My back is covered in multiple scars, some bigger than others. And there are only a couple on my stomach. But thanks to my Erudite clothing, I can easily cover myself in a singlet, long sleeve and a formal jacket. I always tried dressing in layers to make some sort of padding of armor to achieve less pain.

Even though I was from a different Faction, it wasn't anywhere near a struggle for me to adjust to Erudite. My intelligence simply just made sense in their scenery. So I was where every Erudite child should be in school. Which is obviously advanced. Erudite tends to think I was always made for it, but I think different.

Although I'm high in my grades, I never felt the sense of belonging in Erudite. And my friend, Emma, agrees. She thinks that I'm so much like other Factions, that it's sometimes confuse her. She says that I can be kind, selfless at times, honest sometimes, but brave at most.

I guess she is right.
When I see some Candor tease the Abnegation, I would walk over and either talk them down, or punch them over. I can't resist myself when it comes to others getting hurt, it just reminds me of my brother.

Like I said before, I don't think I fit in with Erudite...

And that is what lingers in my thoughts a lot... I just can't seem to shake the thought away for too long. I don't feel like I fit in and that is what scares me. Because if I don't fit in here...
