"Why are you two constantly disappointing me?"
Jackson and Mark knelt down in front of Chairman Wang's desk and took on the same repeated lecture on how they should always be on time and how can damage their reputation in the company. Nothing they haven't heard before.
"It's almost like you don't care about my authority over you two,"the chairman said in a stern tone.
Jackson stood up and lowly bent at the waist.
"I'm sorry, father-"
"In this building, I am not your father," Wang sharply stated." I am the respected chairman and I expect the same respect from you and Mark."
Jackson's bowing form remained silent. He, once again, let his father down.
"My apologies, Chairman Wang," Jackson apologized, voice full of regret.
Mr.Wang turned his back on the two men and faced the window that gave a clear view of the LA skyline.
"You have been dismissed."
Jackson wanted to apologize again but instead kept his mouth shut. Jackson and Mark stood quietly and walked out of the CEO's office.
Mark felt bad for getting Jackson in trouble with his father all the time. He had thoughts of quiting but hadn't talked it out yet. He hated seeing Jackson getting yelled at especially if it was because of him.
"J, I'm really sorry,"Mark apologized. Jackson forced a tight smile and patted Mark's shoulder.
"It's fine, man. We just need to work on time management, that's all,"Jackson said as he and Mark continued to walk to their separate offices. After a few steps, Mark stops in his tracks, contemplating whether or not to confess his recent inner thoughts.
"Jackson?"
He turns to face Mark with a confused expression on his face. Mark never calls him by his full name unless it's serious and Jackson wanted to question as to why he did.
"Yeah?" Jackson said in a concerned tone."What's up, man?"
Mark couldn't keep his thoughts in secret anymore. He wants to be a good friend to the man he calls best friend.
"I-I think I should quit."

"What do you mean you want to quit?"
Sydney sat in her halfway packed apartment while on the phone with her boss. With her phone in one hand and a Venti Caramel Macchiato in the other, she paced through her messy living room. Letting out a small sigh, she smiles as she hears her beloved boss practically freaking out on the other end of the line.
"I miss my family back in the States. I haven't seen them in years and I think it's about time I go home," Sydney says as she thinks back on her family and friends that she missed so much.
"I could just put you on paid leave and you could go visit your family," her boss negotiated. "Come on Syd. We need you here."
Sydney sighed through her smile.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Kwan," Sydney apologized once again. "But I can't accept your offer. It was a pleasure working with you and I hope your business continues to thrive."
Defeated, Mrs. Kwan lets out a heavy sigh over the call. She knew Sydney's hard work helped her business become what it is today. Syd was a vital part of her team. Losing her was going to cost a lot from Mrs. Kwan's company. But it was a sacrifice she was willing to make. She gave in.
"I suppose it would be fair to let you go after all these years," Mrs. Kwan said to the younger. "I am very grateful for what you've done for me. It's what you deserve. I'll put in your two weeks."
Sydney sadly smiles.
"Thank you, Mrs. Kwan."
"No. Thank you, Ms. Brown. Have a nice day."
"You too."
Sydney hangs up the phone and takes another sip of her macchiato as she looks out of the patio window. She feels excited yet calm. She's finally going home to her family.
'There's no going back,' she thought.
"I'm coming home."
