Chapter Twenty Four
I woke up to the sound of my ringtone. More specifically, the ringtone I had set up for Cathy. Half asleep, I answered the phone, shutting up Taylor Swift. Honestly, I wasn't sure why she was calling me at 10 am on a Sunday. My confusion came to an end when I heard two voices giggling on the other end of the line. Clearly it wasn't just Cathy. "It's too early for shit. What do you want?" I grumbled, rubbing my eyes and running a hand through my hair.
"Lenne. You need to get to Jaqueline's house right now. She has a brunch date with some guy from the track team and well let's just say she's clueless on what to wear. After, you and I can go to the fair cause momma wants herself some funnel cake." was all I heard before she hung up the phone and I was left with silence. Groaning, I sat up and threw my comforter off me. Basically stomping into my closet, I turned on my Bluetooth for my phone and speaker. I took out a white flowy tank and a pair of light wash cuffed jeans with rips in them. Dancing around my room, I got ready and tried to find my white wedges. In the bathroom, I fixed my hair, making a nice bun and simply adding eyeliner and mascara. I was singing along to Post To Be while I put on my jewelry when my door opened. There stood a tired looking Jake who looked like he sorta wanted to strangle me. It was a noisy process to get myself ready apparently.
"Lenne, you do understand that it's like 10:55 in the morning right? What the hell are you doing?" he mumbled, walking towards my bed and laying down. I laughed and buckled my white wedges, shaking my head at his child like manner. This boy was something else. "Jaqueline needs my help with her outfit and then Cathy and I are going to the fair for the rest of the day," I stated shrugged, adding a simple gold necklace that reads my name. I was basically done so, I grabbed my black leather backpack and put my necessities in there. "Alright. I'll go get dressed," he responded, getting up and walking towards my door. His hair was messy and his sweatpants were riding too low for my taste, but I wasn't complaining. "Woah. What?" I questioned. My eyebrows were furrowed and I tilted my head slightly to the side.
"What? I'm going with you to your girly mission and then I'll invite my friend Mateo to the fair. All four of us can go and have a good time Lenne. Don't be selfish." He teased, sauntering out of my room. I was pretty sure my eyes were narrowed into slits, but I wasn't going to argue. It's still too early for this.
I slowly walked down the stairs, refusing to break my face because I was wearing heels. My phone rang out Taylor Swift for the second time this morning and I groaned, picking up the phone. "Jaqueline speaking, I need you here now dude. Hurry up and pick up donuts and coffee." She ordered. Breathing out a sigh, I walked towards the kitchen still holding onto my phone. "Fine. By the way, Jake decided to invite himself to the mission. I'll make him pay for the coffee and donuts. What do you guys want?" I leaned against the wall and waited for Jake to come down the stairs and for her response. "Well, I want a vanilla mocha and a jelly filled donut. Cathy wants her coffee black with no sugar or creamer and a chocolate frosted donut," she responded. Nodding, I said bye and grabbed my keys once I saw Jake walking down the stairs.
"Ready to go Doll?" he questioned with a smirk. Without waiting for my response, he took the keys out of my hands and walked out the door. "Just don't crash my fucking car, Asher." I said mumbled angrily, slipping into the passenger seat.
Throughout the entire car ride to Dunkin Donuts and Jaqueline's house, all Jake did was sing along to the ColdPlay station on his phone. My ears were probably bleeding because of how loud he was blasting the music. However, I kept a calm expression, though in my head my eye was twitching like crazy. When he finally shut the engine off and parked the car in Jaqueline's driveway, I basically scrambled out of the car. The smirk on his face made me want to smack him and the glint in his eyes oddly made me want to kiss him. Before I could question that feeling, the front door was slammed open and Cathy ran out. Barreling towards me, she took mine and Jake's arm, dragging us inside.
That's how Jake ended up in a room with three girls who were throwing clothes basically everywhere. Even though he seemed to find our frustration amusing, you could tell he was tired of seeing so many outfits on one person. Jaqueline kept asking for his opinion just to piss him off and it was finally getting to him. He was laying down on Jaqueline's fluffy blue bean bag and scrolling through his phone.
"What's the big deal? If Christian is taking you out then it's either going to be to a picnic or some hipster café on the other side of town. Just pick something casual and flirty." Jake grumbled out, throwing a pillow at my back and letting out an exaggerated sigh. All of the sudden it was like a lightbulb went off in Cathy's head because she ran into the closet and came back with a complete outfit. Excitement is plastered all over Cathy's face when she shoves the outfit into Jaqueline's hands and shooed her into the bathroom. After about 10 minutes, Jaqueline walked out with a big smile on her face. She was wearing a pair of white jeans that made her body look amazing and the thin striped long sleeve shirt contrasted perfectly. By simply adding black heeled booties, a short leather jacket, and a small chained gold necklace, she looked amazing and ready. Smiling, she finished her makeup and left her hair as it was, straight. The doorbell rang just on time because she had just finished putting everything she needed in her purse. We all walked down the stairs, Jake zooming past us to open the door. He greeted a guy who was really well groomed in a hipster manner. They did the whole bro hug thing and then Jaqueline walked out, us behind her so she could lock the door. We said our goodbyes and off we went to the fair.

Good afternoon Peaches, hope the chapter was good or, at least, ok. As you may have been able to tell, Jake and Lenne have grown pretty comfortable with each other and have developed a pretty amazing relationship. They're too cute. Honestly, at this point, I have almost 0.5% of an idea of what I am doing with this book. Like I'm basically just going with the flow and hoping it sounds good. Anyways, pretty soon I want to be able to make a playlist for the book so if you have any ideas don't be shy and share. Love you Peaches and I'll update soon. -Aime
