would be a happier "me"
but that's not how your fate unfolded
you saw the signs
you did a double take
you couldnt have been mistaken
but his attention was on you
when he smiles at you
laughs with you
includes you
hugs you
compliments you
talks to you
texts you
your heart beats quicker
you're excited, you're flustered
but you're scared in good and bad ways
you dont want him to stop smiling at you
or to stop laughing with you
including you
complimenting you
talking to you
texting you
your heart beats quicker
you're worried, you're afraid
because that's what he did to you in the end
when everything seemed well
when nothing seemed to go be going wrong
you lost him
he discarded you
and to him nothing significant happened
except for the fact that my heart has now shattered
he has the right
he did nothing wrong in a way
so it's better to let him go
and search for someone else
who will probably repeat this pattern
as my love has never been reciprocated
