Maeve and I made our way towards the laughing to see Otis and Eric.
"Hey. Maeve, Riley."
"Hey. You look fierce." I laughed.
"Nice hat."
"Hey, I think we're gonna have to go home, because he's ruined his trousers." Otis said.
"Looks like he's done a poo." I giggled.
"No, it's fine. We're going to the party." Eric said.
"It's a bit early, isn't it?" Asked Otis.
"We're here for business."
"Okay." I went up to the gate pressing a button.
"Well, how come she can ring it?"
"Well, she's not you, is she?" Otis asked as I blushed. We made our way into the gate and towards the front door.
"Come on. Stick with me and you'll have the time of your life." I winked at Otis pulling him in.
"This is brilliant! I think I got most of it off." Eric repiled coming out of the bathroom.
"It's very crowded in here. Definitely over capacity." Otis shook his head.
"Relax, you're 16." I told him.
"Otis, you scope out the sober virgins, and I'll take the hockey team." Maeve said as I looked around the room.
"Uh, what about me?" Eric asked.
"Go talk to Anwar." I said.
"Oh, I can't. I'm too nervous." Eric repiled.
"Anwar's his unrequited crush." Otis told us.
"Aah." Maeve and I responded.
"Good excuse to break the ice. Go on." I said.
"I heard his ex broke up with him because he wouldn't finger his bumhole." I rolled my eyes at my best friend.
"Yeah, I'll speak to Anwar." Eric turned around stealing someone's shot.
"That was my shot, you dick." The guy said.
"Sorry. I've seen people do it in films." Eric repiled.
"Asshole." He walked away.
"You got this, now if you need me I'll be by the alcohol." I winked at Eric before heading to the booze.I sat on the front porch silently drinking and smoking, minding my own business.
"Mum?" I looked up to see Otis stopping in his tracks.
"Oh, for fuck's sakes. Oh, shithouse! Gah! Fuck!" A woman yelled as Otis looked at her.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Otis, darling! You. I'm. You forgot your inhaler." His mum said.
"I haven't had an attack in six years." Otis told her.
"Well, what if you did? I mean, would any of these people help you? And. That's an awful lot of responsibility to..."
"You're spying on me."
"What? Don't be irrational." His mum shook her head.
"Irrational? You're the one stalking your son!" Otis said.
"That word carries a lot of weight, young man. Don't misuse it. I understand - how you might feel unjustly observed." Otis turned around.
"Okay."
"Uh Otis - Otis, don't walk away."
"Just go home, Mum!" Otis yelled out returning to the house. After 10 minutes just staring at the stars, I went inside going to the bathroom.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..." In the living room stood Adam with a ern and ashes on the ground.
"You always ruin everything. Go home." Aimee told him as I touched my cousins shoulder.
"Come on, you can stay at my place." I told him as he nodded.
We made our way outside as Otis ran after us.
"Riley wait!" He said as I stopped in my tracks turning.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
We moved away from Adam, I crossed my arms shivering.
"I'm taking Adam home. And quite frankly, I want to go home too." I replied.
"Oh. Okay, text me when you get home. Yeah?" I nodded.
I turned walking about to Adam, but stopped as I turned around.
"Otis?" He stopped turning to face me.
"Go easy on your mum... At least she cares about you most of us don't have that." I gave him a small smile before grabbing Adam's hand dragging him out.Monday Morning:
I yanked open my locker as I stared into it, thinking my books would appear into my hands.
"You alright?" I turned my head to see Otis leaning against the lockers.
"Uh, yeah. Just thinking." I grabbed my English book.
"You didn't text me, when you got home." He said as I brushed a piece of hair behind my ear.
"Sorry. When Adam and I got there, we just crashed on the couch." I said.
"Are you sure your alright?" I nodded closing my locker.
"Yes, Otis. If there was something wrong, I would tell you." I said as he nodded.
"Good... Riley I was wondering if..."
"Guys!" Otis was cut off by Maeve running over to us.
"What?" I asked confused.
"We got cilents! Come on! We gotta thank Eric." Maeve grabbed our hands pulling us away.
"What were you going to ask?" I looked over at Otis as we got outside.
"N-nothing, it's stupid."
"Okay." I said a little bit hurt.
"Eric!" Maeve screamed as we got to the bike rack.
"What?"
"The sex pretzels! It worked. We have sex pretzels." Eric gave him a look.
"Clients. We've got clients." I rolled my eyes.
"Numerous students have approached me today hoping to secure our services. And they're willing to pay." Maeve said.
"Keep talking."
"That's it." I said.
"So we're back on?" I nodded.
"Yes, but, um, toliet cubicles aren't gonna work. I'm not a priest, so I need to see people face to face." Otis said.
"I thought you didn't wanna be seen?" Maeve asked.
"Well, yeah, but it's not about me. It's about them, and it needs to feel like a conversation. Otherwise it's just too much pressure for everyone." I smiled at Otis.
"I'll be in charge of booking schedules." Maeve said.
"I'll be in charge of the money." I chimed.
"Yes. Great." Otis smiled at me.
"What shall I do?" Eric asked as we all looked at each other.
"It's cool, it's cool." Eric said as I smiled softly at him.
"No problemo. I got lots of things to be gettin' on with, anyway. I'm super busy... Super busy." Eric nodded.
"Okay." We all nodded.
"Um. But this is so great for you guys!" Eric said as my uncle's voice toned on.
"Riley Groff to the headmasters office. Riley Groff to the headmasters office." I rolled my eyes.
"Duty calls, see y'all later." I kissed Maeve's cheek before heading inside.
