Even after the weird encounter with the girl slapping Blaise, he and Medea enjoyed the lunch break under the tree where he had asked her out. The girl that had hit him had sat just a few meters away but quickly scooted when Blaise started kissing Medea. He was a nice, but impatient boyfriend. His kisses had gotten more demanding in only the two days. They were a couple now for just two days and Medea could see the lust in his eyes sometimes. Before the bell rang, Blaise had been kissing the back of her neck, while she tried to concentrate and do her homework. But with him around it was nearly impossible.
"Medea! You've got DADA now, right?" Ron yelled from far away.
"Yeah!" she responded and he came closer, "I'm so not looking forward to this. Gosh, the woman's an insufferable teacher."
Ron joined her out of a group of friends, Harry and Hermione followed him, while the others, Fred and Lee just glanced at them. But that was more than what George did. He ignored her completely like he had done the last few weeks. Since the train ride, Medea hadn't spoken a word with him or his twin.
"Seriously, I don't know why Dumbledore hired her," Hermione joined in. She seemed pretty upset about the whole Umbridge-Situation. She didn't stop complaining until they separated to go to their classrooms.
When Medea entered, she was shoved by one of those girls who hated her since she had shown up on the yard, holding Blaise's hand. Unfortunately, there were quite many of them. At first, they controlled themselves, probably guessing Blaise would break up with her soon anyway. But when he didn't, the whole situation got a bit out of control. Medea was bullied from all sides, where ever she went, there was at least one girl shooting daggers at her.
In the DADA classroom, she sat next to Blaise and that pretty much in front of everyone. Blaise was often touching her in classes when he was bored. Medea could then literally feel the girls dart malignant glances at her. The classes were also pretty boring, wherefore Blaise touched and kissed her all along.
Like always, Umbridge wanted them to put their wands away. They were told to read chapter 7 of the book, but Medea hadn't listened and was just sluggishly leafing through the book, like many of her classmates. Umbridge didn't seem to care that pretty much nobody listened to her, she still continued with her boring speech about counter-curses or anything. After an apparently never-ending hour, the bell rang and everybody was about to leave when Umbridge shut the doors.
"My dear children, I reckon there's something to tell you before you leave," she said in her voice, a tone other people used to speak to toddlers, "as Miss Granger, a fellow student of yours, believes, many of you doubt my lessons to be reasonable. Do any of you agree?"
There was an awkward silence in the class; every single one of them thought so. But none of them dared to tell the Professor. Her eyes narrowed a bit, she didn't seem to be stupid enough to think that they were all quiet because they didn't think so.
"Nooo, never. Just that we're wasting our time, but that's fine. I've got nothing better to do than sit in a classroom and learn nothing," Medea uttered under her breath, her voice full of biting sarcasm.
"What did you just say?" Umbridge asked furiously, her voice not as high as normally. Medea blushed, and immediately flinched a step. She knew that she was in trouble now.
"Uuhh... I'm just saying if we don't actually learn the spells, how are we going to perform them if necessary?"
"There's nothing that would make it necessary Miss Lane."
"But - Harry is saying that You-Know-Who's back and if he's right then we need to learn a lot more than this to defend ourselves," Medea responded, her confidence recovered.
"Miss Lane, you have been told a lie. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has not returned and there is no reason to think so"
Suddenly, she felt a violent pain in her head. She couldn't restrain a surprised cry, which caused Blaise and a few Hufflepuffs to rush to her. She held her head, but the pain had gone. Still, Medea didn't stop groaning. Much to Umbridge's dismay, the students insisted on taking her to the hospital wing.
When she was alone in the corridors with Blaise and any Hufflepuff who technically carried her, she jumped to her feet and laughed at them happily.
"Phew, only just got away from that problem. Seriously, if I hadn't had that, Umbridge would have killed me."
Blaise soon joined in, while the Hufflepuff looked a bit offended and left right away. Blaise and Medea joked a long time about the trouble she would have had and how angry Umbridge had looked when Blaise insisted on the Hospital Wing. They went to the house table jokingly and the others joined in when they found out.
But even though the sharp pain in her head had gone and she was laughing with the others, who were just this once actually nice to her, there was still a booming against her temple, which made it impossible to her to just forget that her breakdown in class hadn't been just an act.
Tho, many ventured the guess that Medea should now be careful with Umbridge, that this move had probably lost her Slytherin safety, but she then just replied, laughing, that getting Umbridge that angry was definitely worth it.
And even if Umbridge didn't like her now, what could she do? The woman was a teacher, she couldn't inflict any punishment without a really good reason. Finding something would already be hard and if she found something, she couldn't punish Medea with more than detention. And writing a few sentences wouldn't kill her.
