CHAPTER TWO:
NEW FACES
☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆
When the next morning rolled around, Ruby woke up with unbelievable pain in her arm. Looking down at her right arm, she spotted a small mark that was formed like the letter H. Dragging her thumb over it, Ruby winced at the pain it gave. It felt like a part of her was trying to crawl out of her skin. Concluding with that she was just imagining things, the petite blonde rolled out of bed and made her way to the bathroom. Staring at her reflection in the mirror, Ruby took notice of her dark circles under her eyes and red nose. As she had gone to bed the previous night, the girl had gone through her notebook with her investigation of her sister's disappearing. It had kept her up for most of the night as thoughts and ideas flowed through her brain as it always did at night.
Her sister had been gone for over a year and Ruby felt like everyone had given up on looking for her. It was as if everyone had settled on the fact that she was gone for good and that she was never going to show up again. Ruby, however, knew that if she just kept looking long enough and tried hard enough, that she would find her in the end. She didn't believe that her sister was gone for good. She knew that she wasn't.
Grabbing her toothbrush, Ruby washed her teeth as she strutted over to her closet to pick out her clothes for the day. Taking notice of how it was raining outside, the blonde picked out a pair of black ripped jeans, a maroon colored t-shirt, and her dark green army jacket. Some would say her style in clothing was emo-like, but Ruby liked to dress like how she felt. She didn't want to stick out in the crowd. She wanted to be invisible to the eye of humankind. She didn't want the attention. All she wanted was to be left alone.
That was when she heard a knock on her front door, that she quickly put her headphones in her pocket and grabbed her black backpack from the kitchen counter where she had been stuffing her school supplies into the backpack.
Her mother had already left before Ruby woke up, so when she walked out of the front door and locked it, she was faced with no other car in the driveway except an orange truck that belonged to a certain brunette girl across the road.
Hopping into the passenger side of the truck, Ruby greeted the brunette behind the steering wheel, "Morning, Bella." The brunette smiled at the blonde next to her as she started the engine and left the driveway. "Are you excited to face your new school?" The petite blonde laughed at her question, "Excited? Who is ever excited to go to school? Let alone one where you'll be referred to as the new student."
"I started there last week and it wasn't that bad." Ruby raised her eyebrows at the girl, "Okay, it was kinda awful," A smirk formed on the blonde's lips, "But some people were actually really nice."
"A particular boy maybe?"
"Not on my nice list." Ruby's grin dropped, "What? How can anyone not be nice to that baby face of yours?" Bella shrugged her shoulders, "I have no idea. He wouldn't talk to me at all and he even tried to switch classes so that he didn't have to be stuck with me." The blonde couldn't believe what she was hearing, "What a dick. Are you going to confront him? Couse' if you aren't, then I'm going to." The brunette looked at her for a split second before pulling into the parking lot of the school, "I'm going to if he shows up at school today."
