"Astrid?" He questions.
"Sebastian." I smile.
"How long has it been?" He opens his arms.
"Three years I think?" I wrap my arms around his waist. It feels so good to see him again.
"How have you been?" He holds me tight against his body.
"I've been good, you know just working. My birthday was a couple of days ago, so I'm also partying a bit." He looks at me and smiles. Almost as if he's interested in every word that's coming out of my mouth. "How about yourself?" I ask him as we both step in the elevator.
"I've been good too, working as you." He stands close to me.
"Oh come on Seb, we haven't seen each other in three years, and that's all you've done?" I poke at his ribs.
"Ok so I've dated, I've partied, I've just been enjoying life." He shyly smiles.
"Oh dating.. like always getting the ladies." I wink at him.
"What? It's not like you've been single since high school? He playfully narrows his eyes at me.
"Actually yes I have. I've been too busy with work, and whatnot." I wave a hand in the air to get my point across.
"Just work?"
"Work is important to me, I want to have a good lifestyle, and if I work hard enough I will." I simply say. I mean the lifestyle I live actually requires me to bust my ass.
"I mean just by looking at you I can tell you make enough money." He looks at my handbag.
"Can we talk about something else?" I'm starting to feel uncomfortable.
"Where are you headed?" He asks as we step into the casino.
"China Poblano" I look up at the guide and head towards the restaurant.
"Me too." he takes longer strides to keep up with me. "Are you having lunch there?"
"Nope. Picking up for my boss and me." I get on the escalators, and he follows behind me.
"Have you partied here?" he asks, making me turn my head a bit.
"That's Marquee right?" I ask just to make sure.
"Yes."
"No, I've only been to Omnia." He nods, then we continue to walk to our destination.
"I'm going to have to take you in there soon." he murmurs.
"Hi, table for two?" the hostess asks, and I shake my head.
"Carryout." she nods and hands me a menu.
"How about you sir?" he asks Sebastian.
"Carryout as well." She turns to get him a menu.
"What are you getting?" I look over at him and shrug. I know what I'm getting my boss, but I don't know what to get for myself. I've never been here before, but I've heard of it.
"I don't know." I laugh
"Everything is good here, so whatever you choose will be good." he looks at his menu.
I look over it, and I find what my boss wants, I decide to go with fries, and their mole sauce plus two lobster tacos. I place my order and fish out the black Amex company card. Sebastian stands next to me as I pay and he softly whistles as he sees the card I'm holding.
"How much money do you make?" he asks after he places his order, and pays for it.
"That's not a question you should ask people. They might not like it." I raise a brow at him.
"Yeah but you're not just any person. I actually know you, know you." he does have a point, but there is no need for him to know how much I make. "Come on Astrid just tell me."
"I make around two grand a week, but my boss pays me a bit extra." I make more than that because my boss always pays me double. He always says that it's because I go the extra mile when it comes to my job. Which I'm grateful for.
"That's good." he looks shocked almost.
"How much do you make?"
"Enough to get by." I shake my head.
"Oh no, I told you now you tell me." I insist, just like he did.
"I make around the same as you, except the extra bit." he smiles.
"Miss, your order is ready." the hostess hands me two brown paper bags. I thank her and turn to look at Sebastian. "I'll see you around." I smile at him, and head for the door.
"Wait!" he shouts. "Can I have your number?" he asks as he rushes after me, with his food in his hand. I blush instantly. Should I give him my number? It would be nice to talk to him more. Ah, why the hell not. I take my phone out, and hand it to him, he gives me his, and I quickly type in mine. I press save and hand it back to him.
"I'll call you later on, so we can hang out. Yeah?" I nod and head back to my car.
All can think about during the drive back is Sebastian. He's changed a bit. He's gotten taller, more built, and a hell of a lot hotter. Even as I'm sitting here, typing up this contract, I can't shake him off.
As if that wasn't enough I'm checking my phone every second I can, just in hopes of seeing his name across my screen. I hear my desk phone ring, and I know it's my boss.
"Yes, sir?" I answer.
"Astrid I need you to make a reservation at The Mesa Grill for five people." I grab my post-it pad and write down everything he's saying. "Also I would like for you to join me if you can. If not then it will only be four." Another business dinner. Great. "Make sure it's after seven-thirty." He thanks me, then hangs up.
Picking up the phone again, I call the restaurant and make the reservation for five people. It won't kill me if I join them. Plus it's an extra couple bucks in my wallet.
I get back to the desk after photocopying and filing the contact that I typed up. Looking at my watch I see it's past five. I head to Mr. Evan's office to see if I can head home to get ready for the business dinner. He gives me an ok, and I'm off.
