Three days later
Seth's POV
''Having limited powers in this dimension is very inconvenient... Maybe this was a bad idea.'' Jayce said, his voice full of annoyance. He was repeatedly clicking his fingers together at the dinner table. He wanted to make dinner appear in front of us... He's been trying for an hour.
Jaxon suddenly clasped his hands together easily, and a full meal appeared in front of us. Jayce couldn't help but glare in his direction, picking up the fork and knife beside him.
''It's not a bad idea, Jayce. Jin not only needs to know about his heritage, but he definitely needed a friend.'' Jaxon said to him. Jayce raised an eyebrow, bringing the glass of wine to his lips.
''What do you mean, Jaxon?'' He asked him. Jaxon looked over in my direction, motioning for me to tell him what we had seen.
''I'm sorry about the mess guys, just give me a moment!'' Jin said to us as we walked into the apartment. When you first walked in you were greeted with a small doorway. Various pairs of shoes were thrown loosely on the floor and there sat a coat rack in front of us.
I heard the distressed cry of a woman in the next room, followed by Jin speaking in another language. I was pretty sure it was Korean, I studied it back at my kingdom when I was younger along with other languages.
We walked out of the hallway, leading ourselves into the kitchen. There were whiskey bottles laying on the counters, garbage scattered all over the floor and kitchen table.
We followed the sound of the woman crying and I felt my heart rate grow faster. Jin told us that his mother would be home... I wonder what's wrong with her?
We found Jin in a bedroom, kneeling next to the bed. A woman laid on the bed, her hand wrapped tightly around Jin's small hand. She had long black straight hair and fair pale skin. She looked no older than twenty-four, but I imagined she had to be older. She was mumbling words to Jin in Korean, all I could make out was that she was scared.
Jin encouraged her to take her medicine, reaching over to the small container on her nightstand. She nodded her head slowly as he brought the pills to her lips, along with the glass of water that was in his free hand.
''Rest now.'' is the words he mumbled. She nodded her head slowly as he brought a hand up to his cheek, running her thumb over it.
He slowly looked back, his eyes widening at the sight of Jaxon and I. He flashed us a sheepish smile as he stood up, picking up the whiskey bottles that laid next to his mother's bed. He motioned for us to follow him, which we did.
''I'm sorry for that...'' He started, guiding us into the kitchen. I watched as he grabbed a garbage bag, throwing the various whiskey bottles and garbage into it. Jaxon and I helped him picked up a bit as he spoke.
''My mother is a wonderful woman, really. She's just... really, really sick. She's been diagnosed with schizophrenia among other things unfortunately, I bring in all the money along with going to school. I really don't mind though, I love her a lot.'' He said, his voice shaking. I looked over at Jaxon, and he was looking thoughtfully down at the ground. I wonder if any of her sicknesses have anything to do with Jayce... maybe she found out he was a warlock and she's gone crazy?
''I'm really sorry, Jin. That's a lot of responsibility for a seventeen-year-old boy...'' I said. He flashed me a smile as he pushed the last of the whiskey bottles into the garbage bag.
''Don't apologize. I'd do anything for her...'' He said.
''Oh Hyun... She's such a beautiful girl. I knew she was sick though... I tried to heal her. She did, in fact, find out I was a warlock... she told me if I didn't leave Jin and her she would tell everyone. I guess the secret broke her.'' He said.
