The Antidote She Needed

She stood at the alter overshadowed with nervousness while looking her partner in his hazel eyes,

And before she could say her vows she started to cry,

Not because she ever cheated on him or lied,

But because he helped her to love again but also to feel alive,

He drew her close when she was pushing him away,

He gracefully smiled when her uncontrolled emotions led to words that pierced his heart but he always stayed,

He found solace in watching her fall asleep because in his eyes she epitomizes the woman of his dreams.

He met her when she was broken but over the years he slowly mended the cracks,

So neatly that she herself couldn't find them back,

So she started to listen to what he had to say,

And instead of starting a heated argument she would way away,

She learned to show emotions in a non-sexual way,

And how to genuinely love him so he would stay,

So today she weeps because he stayed amidst her mistakes,

And with each passing day instead of criticizing her, he helped her to pave her way,

She is about to say 'I do' to a man she cherishes,

Because he saw her as a perfect being even with all her blemishes.
