Tfw:::: Self-harm and a close encounter with death.

Gabriel sighed as he sat down in the boy's locker room. He knew skipping class was a serious punishment, especially at this time of year.

It was finals and it was turning into hell for Gabriel. He looked down at his hands and thought about calling home. If he called home, he could take a break, but if he did, he would have to catch up and he just wanted to get it over with.

Pros and cons were running through his head. He didn't know what to do.

Gabriel noticed he was crying. He smiled and wiped his face with his damp hoodie sleeve.

"Weak, " he mumbled and chuckled quietly. His breathing quickened he felt the ground around him. Words that get thrown at him every day were repeating in his mind over and over.

Faggot

Loser

Idiot

Retard

Gay

Loner

Asshole

Bitch

Coward

He collapsed onto the cold floor. "GO AWAY!" He cried out and clawed at his neck. He wanted to breathe so badly it hurt.

Through his blurry vision, he noticed something shiny. And sharp. He crawled towards it and picked it up. He smiled, knowing what it was and what he was about to do.

One. He breathed heavily and put it closer to his skin. Two. He pressed it onto his skin. Three. He cut and gasped at the sharp pain on his wrist. Blood came pouring out of his skin and onto his clothes.

He kept cutting and soon there were tons of cuts that were bleeding out. He laid down and smiled. Sure, this was an irrational reaction to deal with the stress of finals but this also released other pent up emotions that were in him. It made him feel free and stress-free.

Granted, he has been doing this for a long time. Hiding and cutting his already damaged skin.

They were faint and quick. He couldn't get up in time. There was a gasp at the doorway of the locker room.

"Oh my God! Dean call an ambulance!" Gabriel knew that voice.

"Don't worry about me, Sam, " Gabriel croaked out and smiled at his mini-crush.

"It's going to be okay, Gabriel, don't go, " Sam cried and looked at his friend's wrists. He grabbed paper towels and wrapped them around Gabe's wrists.

Sam picked Gabriel up and ran out of the locker room and towards the flashing lights that were at the front of the building.

"Please Sam, don't do this, " Gabriel said weakly and looked up at him with glossy eyes.

"It's going to be okay, Gabriel." He recurred and almost didn't let go when they put him onto a stretcher.

Sam couldn't visit him but once he got the news his best friend was in a coma everything crashed down at Sam all at once.

One year later

The doctors would pull the plug soon. Even if the Novaks and Sam begged them not to.

Sam sat in the chair next to Gabriel's bed.

"They're going to pull the plug, Gabriel, " he mumbled and looked longingly at his friend. "Please wake up, we all want you to, " Sam wiped off a tear with his sleeve.

"Please don't go, " Sam started to cry violently, not being able to stop.

"Please, " he heaved and coughed. "I love you, Gabriel, too much to let you go, not again, please, " he buried his face into his hands and his body threw him around violently.

"Gabriel, please..." He mumbled and snapped his head up when he heard wheezing and coughing.

"Gabriel?" He stood up quickly and knocked his chair down. "Oh my God, you're awake!"

Many would say it was the heat of the moment but really, Gabriel finally broke his body out of the state he was stuck in. He heard everything that was said to him. Things like, "please wake up, " and "I love you, Gabriel, "

Sam latched onto Gabriel when he finally sat up.

"Sam visiting hours are- Oh my God!" The nurse yelled and dropped her clipboard.

To all the doctors, Gabriel wasn't supposed to get up. They were supposed to pull the plug tomorrow.

She ran out of the room, presumably to call his family.

"Sam let go, please, " Gabriel gasped for air and Sam let go.

"Sorry about that I-" Sam was silenced when Gabriel pushed his lips onto him. Gabriel wanted this kiss for years and now he got it. They pulled apart, gasping for air to fill their lungs.

"I love you too, Sam."
