Chapter 1
*3 years later*
"Alright you crazy Phenomenon kids, before we end the show tonight I got one more song to play. Ya'll know that I've worked with my good friends Capital Kings in the past right? Well they just released a song called "Fireblazin'" and it's super awesome. They asked me to do a remix for them, so here it is. Uh I hope ya'll like it and until next time this is Soul Glow Activatur on Phenomenon with NGEN Radio!"
Solomon started the music and pulled off his headphones, feeling a little relieved that his show slot was done with for the night. It had been a long week, and all he wanted to do was pick up his son Mickey and watch a movie until both of them were passed out on the couch.
"Soli, great show tonight man," his co-worker Kent said.
"Thanks bro, I love it when I'm able to do it here in the studio. Even though this isn't my hometown, ya'll make me feel welcome for real," he replied.
"Of course man, it's a pleasure having you here. We've been rockin' out to your music forever. Anyways, I gotta get ready to go. I had the afternoon show earlier but I was taking care of a few flyers and stuff for our upcoming BOOMIN' concert," Kent said.
"Cool, take care. Hey are we doing another surprise Phenomenon party this year?" Solomon asked.
"Marcus is handling all that but I think we may be doing it again. We'll let you know though," he replied.
"Okay, good night."
Solomon made his way to his car and started driving toward his brother Brad's house so that he could get Mickey. No matter what was going on in his life, hanging out with his son brought him so much joy especially after he lost his wife Rebecca to cancer.
It had been three years, and he still felt as if a part of him had died with her. She was his high school sweetheart, his first love. They both got married at 20 years old, and in spite of what everyone said they managed to stay together for 10 beautiful years.
A tear streamed down his face as he pulled into the driveway, the pain still fresh. As he turned off the ignition, Solomon took a deep breath and wiped his face. He opened the door and clicked the alarm as he walked up to the front porch so that he could ring the doorbell.
"What's up bro?" Brad asked when he opened the door.
Solomon smiled and hugged him, "Not much man. Where's Mickey at?"
"Ah, he's in the living room. Just got done beating the crap out of me in this football video game," Brad replied.
"Ha, he gets it from his daddy!" Solomon exclaimed and they both laughed.
"MICK buddy! Yo daddy is here to pick you up. Gimme back my controllers," Brad said as they walked into the living room.
"Dad, Uncle Brad is just mad because he got spanked real bad!" Mickey teased and Brad ruffled his hair.
Solomon high fived his son and said, "See it's a generational thing. I used to beat your uncle all the time. I'm just passing the buck!"
Brad just crossed his arms and said, "Wow bro, teaching your son to be a sore winner is whack as heck!"
"Aw Uncle Brad, there's always next time. Maybe you'll beat me then."
Solomon started laughing so hard and eventually Brad joined in too, "Okay kiddo, next time. I'm bringing some serious A-game."
"Cool, you ready to go dad?" Mickey asked.
"Uh, can I talk to your dad for a second kiddo? I need to speak with him for a moment. Why don't you go make sure that the dog has enough water and food in his bowls?" Brad said.
