Things That Are Lost: Season 3

Chapter 23: Escape.

Clem wakes up, realizing she's still on the boat, leaning against the railing. She looks around, and stuff falls past her. She climbs to her feet, finding the boat is leaning on its side. Another explosion goes off, causing her hat to fly right off her head. "No! Shit!" She tries to grab it, but it falls into the water below.

"Clem!"

Clem looks over and sees Violet hanging off a piece of metal, her foot caught in it. "Violet! Hang on! I'm coming!" Clem using the railings to move closer, spotting a dinghy in front of her. She runs and jumps onto it, grabbing it to not fall. Clem looks up to not only see Violet, but AJ as well, who was hanging onto the same piece of metal Violet's foot was stuck to.

"AJ, you have to trust me. On the count of three, let go and I'll catch you." Clem yells to AJ. "Promise?" "Promise." Clem looks at Violet. "Violet. You do the same once I catch AJ. Got it?" Violet nods. "Got it! I trust you."

"One. Two. Three!"

AJ let's go of the metal piece, sliding down the side of the ship. He falls right past the dinghy, but Clem grabs his arm before he falls too far. "Hurry Clem! I'm slipping!" She quickly pulls him onto the boat. "You promised you'd catch me!" "Depth perception. Sorry." Clem looks back up at Violet. "Ready, Vi?" Violet pulls herself up and grabs her stuck leg, ready to push herself free with her other. "Ready!" "One. Two. Three!" Violet then pushes herself off the ship. Her foot is freed, and she falls down right into Clem's arms, knocking her down in the process. "Shit! Clem! Are you okay?" "Fuck...can't...breathe!" Violet quickly gets off of Clem. "Sorry...Guess I'm heavier than I look." "It's fine." Clem coughs while sitting up.

Another explosion shakes the dinghy. "There!" AJ points out the roof above the entrance they used to get inside the boat. "We can climb down from there!" "Well, we have to get there first." Clem points out while looking around, noticing the dinghy's rope we unstable. "Okay, we've got to jump." "It's far." "I know it's far, but it's the only way." Clem notices the ropes were close to snapping. "You'll have to go first. You'll need a running start." She tells AJ. "I don't know, Clem." "Come on, you can do this, AJ. Just run. And jump. You got this." "I got this...I got this!" AJ says to himself, but he still doesn't move. "AJ, what do we do when we're scared?" "We don't let it get to us." "Atta boy."

AJ runs and jumps off the dinghy and onto the boat, leaning on more railing. "Come on, Clem, Vi!" Clem looks at Violet. "You go next, Vi." "Okay." Violet stands up, but another explosion knocks her down. The two then try jumping together, but a bigger explosion causes the rope holding the dinghy up to snap.

The dinghy falls and swings on its side by the other rope. Clem and Violet hold onto it to not fall into the water. "Clem!" AJ calls. "Get to the pier. We'll meet you there." "I'm not going to leave you." "There's nothing you can do. We'll find a way there. Now go!" AJ looks down before he starts shimmying towards the pier. "Clem." Violet points out a part of the boat the can grab onto. "Nice eye." Clem climbs up the dinghy and jumps over to the boat, grabbing onto the side. Violet jumps over as well just as the other rope to the dinghy snaps, making it fall into the water.

The two start climbing across to the pier when supplies and crates start falling from above them. Clem narrowly dodges a crate before she keeps going. Another explosion goes off, causing the metal poles her and Violet are holding onto to jut out the side of the boat. The explosion also knocks AJ onto the awning of the pier. "Hurry!" He yells. They both climb across the poles to the ends. "You got this, you two. Jump!"

Clem jumps onto the awning, and Violet jumps just as the poles fall off the boat. There is another explosion, and the three run across the awning, seeing the walker herd on the shore. Clem looks at both AJ and Violet before she lowers AJ onto a crate below the awning. Clem jumps down next, and an arrow nearly hits her head upon landing.
