Chapter 21(b): Truth Untold

Karen:

I slept so well I got so mad when my phone started to ringing interrupting my beauty sleep. I was too lazy to wake up but the phone keeps on ringing beside me non stop. I had to move my body to the side while my hand reached out to search for the phone. I picked up the call as soon as I got it.

"Hello..." Oh gosh... I'm too lazy to open my eyes. Pray that this call is important or I'll kill the person calling me.

"Wake up sleeping ugly! Do you know what time is it? You shouldn't be sleeping right now." Nigel's high pitched voice booming through my ear. I winced in irritation, I'm gonna strangle him.

"What? Where are you?" My eyes amazingly hasn't opened yet, I refused to open it. I want to sleep longer.

"I'm at work, seriously Karen? It's already 10." Nigel's energetic voice and shocking words opened my eyes in a flash.

"WHAT?!" I jolted up from the bed. "Okay.. talk to you later." I hung up the call to see a notification on my screen. I got a message.

'I need you at the office today. -Ian-'

I had no choice but to comply, probably it's too busy there for him to handle it all at once. So I quickly went to get ready to work. It feels like nothing happened last night.

When I reached the office, Ian didn't even get angry at me for coming in late. Instead, he just acted normal. So I proceeded any work I should have done and he too did his work. We both were so busy to think about personal matters at the moment. Unfortunately, that moment were disturbed by an angry woman who suddenly barged into the office and cursing Ian left and right. Surprisingly, it's her, the woman who's going to get married with Ian. It must be a lover's quarell so I took the cue to step out from the office to give them the privacy needed.

I sat down on the chair outside of the office while resting my arm onto the desk. Do I have to witness their up and down moments as lovers? Did you purposedly called me to work to show that you're in a bad terms with her right now? Stop thinking or hoping for nonsensical stuff Karen.

After a while, the woman went out from the office looking so mad and restless. She noticed I was watching her from the side, she glared sharply at me before leaving. What a good way to treat people.. Then it was Ian's turn to come out from the office, so I stood up and looked at him who seems so worn out.

"Are you okay?" I asked him.

There's a slight happiness that's visible in his eyes, "I thought you didn't care about me anymore.

"No I don't, I just asked you as your PA. Who knows if you want to cancel any appointments later." His face literally dropped when I said that. Sensing that he probably okay, I went inside the office without waiting for his reply. I continued my work as usual for the rest of the day.

I don't want to be near Ian at all. He's acting so strange, he keeps on trying to start a conversation with me. I don't want to talk to him so I made it clear I want to get away from him by going back and forth to the copying room few floors below. I purposedly showed that I was avoiding him by going there while knowing that the copying machine in the office were fully functioning.

When I finally have a free time, I went downstairs to see Matt. "Hey....long time no see." Like always, Matt with his cheerful smile greeted me first right after he saw me coming into his office.
