Chapter Four-
{August 18th, 1:34AM}
I woke up to fluorescent lights shining down on me. I was in the hospital. My head ached and I felt like throwing up. A nurse peeked her head through the door.
"Oh! Hello honey. Glad to see you've woken up!" She fake smiled.
"W-Where are my parents? And Audrey? And Jai?"
"I'm sorry? Who's Jai?" A look of confusion spread across her face.
"J-Jai Brooks? He was at my house also, wasn't he?" I bit down on my lip so hard it started bleeding.
"Jai Brooks..." As she flipped through a binder filled with white papers, the door opened. A doctor walked in.
"Hello Charlotte! Glad to see you!"
He smiled.
"Doctor, do we have anyone named Jai Brooks in?" The nurse asked.
"Why, yes." Relief spread through my body. "He wasn't a patient though. He was waiting by Charlotte's side the whole time. I believe he's in the lobby getting something to eat. He hasn't slept."
"Where's my family?" I butted in.
"Um, um, well..." He drifted off. "Audrey was shot in the stomach. She's currently on life support."
I shot out of my bed. "What?!"
"No, no honey! You must lie down." The nurse yelled.
"What about my parents?" I worried. I wanted to cry. What happened to my parents?
"Th-They have been shot." The nurse said blankly.
"Wh,Wha...? Are they okay?" My heart fell through the floor.
"No, they have unfortunately passed away." She and the doctor got up and left. I could feel hot tears running down my cheeks. I wanted to puke. I felt like I was going to. And then I did. But then I realised it wasn't puke. It was blood. Tears fell on my lap and I covered my face with my hands. My parents had been murdered. Murdered. What did they do to deserve this? And what about Audrey? She's the only one I had left. What if, what if she died too? A million thoughts ran through my mind and I puked again. Crimson red, all over my blanket. I started to cry harder. And then I passed out.
