I gaze upon this light skinned soldier. He stands upright at his post pretending not to see me. The intense glances we exchange from time to time send fire throughout my body. I long for his strong arms to hold me at night.
The tan of my skin keeps him at bay. Platoons of hate-filled eyes guard the expanse between us. Ready to use their weapons to drain me cold.
He smiles up at me with the same sparkle as the stars in the sky. One of his fellow bannermen catches hold of that smile. My soldier's face becomes paler than before as a sharp pain tears through my chest. Falling swiftly, my eyes are now parallel to the dirt floor. Will I see my love again?
