Crystal opens her violet eyes and looks around the expanse that is Limbo, here and there she can see the orbs that represent different worlds that she is tasked to protect. Her purple braid sways gently as she turns her head back and forth, noticing none of them glowing red meaning none of them needed her, so what had awakened her. Then she feels it again, a wave of energy that makes her shiver. "Axel..." she murmurs, remembering her former friend.
Both had studied under Mystogan, once the ruler of Limbo who was the master of both Magic and Antimagic to keep the multiverse in balance. One day Axel had become jealous of the progress Crystal was making with Magic while he remained the same. He had demanded that Mystogan teach him Antimagic so he could get stronger, but Mystogan had refused, telling him it was too dangerous. Axel had then let his anger and jealousy consume him. He had attacked Mystogan, catching him off guard and wounding him fatally. Before Axel could steal both Magic and AntiMagic from him, Mystogan surrendered his Magic power to Crystal, putting all of it into his staff and giving her the staff, telling her to run and ensure that Magic and Antimagic never classed in a full on war, as that could destroy the multiverse. Crystal had then fled, looking back to see Mystogan casting a magic seal on Axel, sealing him away so he couldn't harm anyone. Though Crystal knew Axel would eventually escape and realized Mystogan was just buying her time to learn about her new role as the Master of Magic. Fleeing deep into Limbo, Crystal finally began to learn how to truly use the gift Mystogan had given her, looking back on her lessons with him and teaching herself some new tricks. Eventually she felt she had a well enough understanding that she began to put herself in stasis, only awakening when a world needed her assistance or was in danger of being destroyed.
Being awakened now worries her since the worlds themselves are fine but Axel's powers are what she sensed. "The seal must nearly be broken, but I can't repair it because I don't know where Mystogan put it," Crystal murmurs to herself brushing her hand over the emblem of magic on her left shoulder, a winged heart with a crossed sword and staff over top, due to her magic it's visible through her purple kamino.
"Oh you won't have to worry about that, old friend," a voice behind her sneers.
Whipping around, Crystal sees Axel. His eyes had turned red since the last time she'd seen him, his hair was still a rich dark brown, and his clothes were still his usual navy blue cloak with a jet black shirt and pants underneath. On his left shoulder she can see the Antimagic emblem shining brightly, a broken heart with demon wings with a broken staff and sword on top. Fear fills her mind as she remember's Mystogan's warning about what would happen if Magic and Antimagic were to ever clash. She grips her staff tightly as she responds angrily, "So you actually broke our master's seal."
"Mystogan was a fool to think that would hold me," Axel snorted, "But that wasn't his only mistake. I to heard his warning to you about what would happen if our powers clashed. So I'll leave you with this warning. I will take control of these worlds you hold so dear. I will ensure Antimagic reigns supreme and then you'll be the one locked away."
"I'll never let you," Crystal replies, "Unlike you I've realized that both Magic and Antimagic are needed to keep these worlds in balance, that's why I've put myself in stasis for so long. I will stop you from destroying these worlds. I vow that someday Magic and Antimagic will be reunited in peace and balance will be restored!"
Axel sneers at her, "Oh Crystal, you're still so naive. Oh well, you'll wake up to the way things really are eventually." He then vanishes to somewhere else in Limbo.
Crystal lowers her staff before beginning to shake in fear. She knew he was right, that she couldn't protect all the worlds should he attack multiple at once. She knew Antimagic could make already evil people stronger and able to do more destruction. "What am I going to do?" she frets but then a world orb shines bright red.
She flies over to it and uses her powers to expand it into a window-like portal through which she could watch. At a touch she instantly knew this was the world of Voltron, a world she hadn't had to visit before but was best known for its intergalactic wars. She'd never had to interfere because the Paladins of Volron were always able to defeat whatever challenge had come their way, protecting everyone from a race known as the Galra. Watching them fight she quickly realized these were ordinary enemies, they'd been enhanced with Antimagic, this was Axel's first move. Crystal debates going in but realizes that she should be able to pass herself off as some sort of alien which wouldn't damage the world's barrier with Limbo. Given where they're fighting she decides she can get away with it and opens a portal that drops her into that world. She waits a moment before darting out of her hiding place and blasting one of them in the back with pure Magic. The Galran soldier falls to the ground instantly. Darting among them, Crystal easily defeats them using pure Magic energy from her staff, which allows her to overpower the Antimagic boost.
Once she destroys the last one she hears someone behind her yell, "What the heck!?" Looking over her shoulder she locks eyes with the Red Paladin. The other Paladins are also staring at her.
"How did you do that? We couldn't even dent them," the Purple Paladin exclaims, almost angrily.
Crystal faces them, "They'd been given a sort of power booster. Only I have the powers to counter the booster. I apologize for interfering."
She starts to walk away when one of them shouts, "Wait!" and she feels a hand grab her shoulder. Turning her head she looks at the Purple Paladin, "Can you at least tell us who you are?"
"My name is Crystal," Crystal replies, "Now I really need to g—" Before she can finish there's a barrage of laser fire behind her and suddenly a purple dome shield appears over her and the Purple Paladin.
"Tori!" the Orange Paladin yells in alarm as the laser fire is focused on the shield and it's occupants.
The Purple Paladin grunts, "T-this won't hold long, it's more of those super powered ones." Sure enough her shield is already cracking.
Crystal grips her staff, "Can I fire attacks through it?"
The Purple Paladin nods shakily and Crystal immediately raises her staff and fires several beams of her Magic aura. It takes out some but not all of the Galra soldiers firing at them. Before Crystal can fire more blasts from her staff to stop them the shield shatters and blasts hit both her and the Purple Paladin. The Purple Paladin yells in pain and crumples to her knees. Crystal's staff shatters and a wave of her purple aura explodes outwards. Crystal is knocked to the ground in shock but feels most of the Magic simply fuse with her body, meaning she'll no longer need the staff to wield it.
She also notices some of it enter the Purple Paladin and her eyes widen as the aura changes from her usual light purple to the Paladin's darker purple. The wound in her gut is instantly healed and the same emblem that is on Crystal's shoulder appears on hers. Crystal notices all this in a fraction of a second before she jumps up and slashes both arms outwards, a wave of Magic leaving her hands and destroying the rest of the Galran soldiers.
Panting, she looks towards the Purple Paladin who is now being helped by her friends. "I am so, so sorry... I never meant for you to get hurt," Crystal looks down in shame.
"What happened to me?" The Purple Paladin asks her.
Crystal looks around, "First we should get somewhere safer, then I'll explain everything."
