One week later

"Morning, honey." Claire said as I walked into the kitchen. "Morning." I said and I see her cooking some food. "Hey, do you need help? I don't mind helping with cooking." I said and she smiles. "Of course, dear." She said and the two of us began to make some waffles. I can't believe it's been a week since we've been here. I was afraid that they would turn us in but....Claire and Stephen are among the nicest people I've ever met. They really do seem to care for their grandsons'. I thought as Claire cooks the eggs and bacon and I poured the waffle batter into the waffle maker.

After sometime, I went over to the sink and began to wash the dishes and, once again absentmindedly, started humming Christmas music. "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. Just like the ones I used to know. Where the treetops glisten and children listen. To hear sleigh bells in the snow." I began to sing softly as I washed the dishes.

"You have a lovely voice, (y/n)." Claire said and I jump at this. "Oh, uh...." I stammer and began to cringe a bit from embarrassment.
"Don't be embarrassed, dear. You do have a nice voice. If you and the boys weren't running from the police, I would suggest you go and sing in the Christmas choir." She replied and I smile at this. "Thanks, Claire." I said just as I hear Daniel, who was upstairs playing with the train model with Stephen, said. "Sean! Finally!"

"Sean, are you awake? Breakfast's almost done, so come down when you're ready, okay?" Claire calls out. "Okay!" Sean's voice calls down and I finish the dishes. "That's enough, dear. You go ahead and take a seat." Claire said and I nod as I take a seat just as Sean walks in the kitchen, yawning. "Oh my, look who's awake..." Claire said and I smile.
"Good morning, sleepyhead..." I said to him.
"It's that bed...feels like a cloud." Sean replied as he stretches his arm. "I know!" Claire said and Sean sits down next to me.

"Daniel, breakfast time! Your brother and (y/n) are ready!" Claire called out towards the balcony. "Grandpa is showing me a boxcar!" Daniel said. "Stephen, your grandson needs to eat now! You can show him the boxcar later!" She exclaims and she turns back to us.

"I love how they're getting along..." she said. "Do you need help or...anything?" Sean asked her. "Oh, (y/n)'s already helped out with the dishes and the cooking.....but thanks for the offer." Claire said and Sean looks over at me and I smile. "Uh oh...should I be worried about the food?" He asked me, teasingly. I give him a mock offended look as I place my hand over my heart. "Are you doubting my cooking skills, Diaz?" I asked him and he chuckles a bit. "Well, the only thing I've tasted, that you've cooked, is the ravioli." He replied. "Good point." I said as I point at him and we chuckle as Daniel comes up to the table and takes a seat.

"Are you boys done playing?" Claire asked Daniel. "We had an express delivery with the passengers, but...the engine broke down!" Daniel said while Stephen walks up behind him, holding the broken engine. "Yep. Has to go straight to the workshop!" He said, smiling. "Good...No trains in the kitchen remember?" Claire said to him. "Gotcha, chief." Stephen said to her.

"Choo choo!" Daniel imitates as Stephen leaves the room. While attempting to open a drawer, Claire pulls off the metal handle. "Oh, sugar! He can fix his trains but...not my kitchen..." she grumbles as she picks up her frying pan walks over to the table. Sean, Daniel and I hold our plates up as Claire scrapes some scrambled eggs and waffles onto them. Sean reaches over the table to grab a carton of orange juice.

"Did (y/n) and I make enough? Everything's okay?" She asked as we started to take our first bites. "It's great, as usual!" Sean said. "You're the best cook ever!" Daniel complimented. "Hey, I helped!" I said and Daniel says. "Oh! You did great, (y/n)."

"Looks like you're getting cozy with this new country life, after all!" Claire said to us. "Yeah...It's nice to be far away from everything..." Sean said. "...feels like we're the only ones out here..." I added as we continued to eat. "Well, that's exactly why we love it. It feels safe, unlike the big city..." said Claire. "I get it." Sean said to her. "I like it. It's cool here!" Daniel exclaims and I nod in agreement as my mouth was full and I didn't want to be rude by talking with food in my mouth.
