I quickly put on my pajama and make my way to my parents' room. Everyone is in there already except my dad. Mom already changed out of her dress. She looks very disappointed.

Then dad enters the room followed by max while arguing. Wtf is he doing here still? "Just give me back my car keys!" Max says loudly

"No. I am not letting you drive home while you're drunk. You can spend the night here and go back to your mother in the morning when your sober."

"Fuck sake dad.. don't be such an ass. You never gave a shit about me. Why start now huh?" He snaps annoyed

"don't talk to me like that. Now get your ass to bed in one of the guest rooms. You can come get your keys in the morning."

"Ugh fine.." he says and leaves the room slamming the door.

Then dad turns to us. "So now, please explain to us why I find one of you with a bong, one of you with bottle of vodka, one of you naked with some random boy and my whole house filled with people who are not supposed to be here. WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!" He says yelling the last part making me flinch a bit.

All three of us stay quiet and look at the ground.

"ANSWER ME GOD DAMMIT." He says loudly again while slamming his fist on moms vanity table.

"Brad calm down." Mom tells him

I feel tears burning in my eyes. He is really scaring me. I've never seen him yell. I back out of the room, ignoring dad who is calling my name. Once I'm out I run to my room and lie down on my bed.

I know running away is gonna make this even worse but I couldn't take it anymore. I cry for a while but then there's a knock on my door and it opens.

I don't bother looking up but I can hear footsteps approaching me. The bed dips in beside me and I feel a hand stroking my hair. "Don't cry baby" mom says.

I look up at her while she looks at me with sympathy. "I'm sorry I walked away, but he really scared me. Chris always used to yell at me like that."

"It's okay. I understand, but I want you to know that your dad would never hurt you. He is just angry about what you guys did tonight and so am I. A lot of picture frames and vases got broken, our house and backyard are a mess. Seriously Shi, what were you guys thinking?"

"I'm sorry mommy. I really am, but honestly though, I didn't know anything about it until it was actually happening. At that point what was I supposed to do?"

Mom sighs "you could've called us."

"I can't just snitch on them. They would be very angry with me."

"At least it would've kept you out of trouble. Now dad and I are mad at you and you will be punished."

"Why did you guys even come home? You said you would stay at a hotel tonight." I ask wiping my tears away

"The neighbors called us about the noise and they knew we weren't home"

"Oh" I sigh "so what is our punishment?"

"I haven't really talked to your dad about it, but the three of you are definitely grounded for a while" she says

"And what about max?"

"I don't know. That is something for your dad and Jennifer to decide. I won't intervene with that."

"I can't believe dad still wants to see him. He is such an asshole"

"Oh come on shi, don't say that. He is your half brother and even though he hasn't really been around, your dad loves him just as much as he loves the four of you."

"Sorry, I just don't understand.."

"You will once you get kids of your own someday. You will love them no matter what happens" she says kissing my hair.

"Hmm.. oh by the way.. I have been thinking about this for a while now and I want a tattoo."

She looks at me before saying: "do you mind asking me again tomorrow? It's almost 3 am and We should go to sleep. I'm tired and you have school in the morning."

"Okay. But if it's a no, you can also just say it now"

"No, I am willing to hear about your idea but that's not a guarantee you will actually get it. I'm not sure what dad thinks about it either. We'll see. Talk to us tomorrow."

"Okay" I nod sitting up straight and wrap my arms around mom "I love you mom"

"I love you too shi. So so much" she kisses my cheek "good night baby"

"Night" I say and lay back down again. I watch mom leave my room and go to sleep. I am so glad she was so calm."
