HARPER WAS IN HER ROOM, getting ready for a night out with a few friends. She played some music at a low volume — loud enough for her to hear — while she got dressed, swaying her hips to the beat.

Harper walked out to the living room area, making sure to turn off everything. Going to shut off the tv, the news channel cut to their "breaking news." The tv showed a scene, one of an ambulance in front of a hotel, a guy being wheeled into the back of the truck, and a few people standing around. Harper couldn't make out who the guy was, so she stood there, waiting for the news anchor to announce who.

"It's a sad night for rock and roll," the news anchor stated sadly, Harper sighing. She began to wonder what artist it could have been as overdosing wasn't all to new. And to say she started to feel uneasy would be an understatement.

"We've just received unconfirmed reports that Motley Crue bassist, Nikki Sixx, has died in Hollywood this evening of an apparent drug overdose."

Harper felt numb, she couldn't move a muscle. Her eyes were glued to the screen, the news anchor's words replaying in her head. She wasn't able to process what was happening.

Harper had a mix of emotions running through her: pain, confusion, rage. Of all people in the world, it had to be the one she cared for and loved the most. Those words she spoke to him at tommy and Heather's wedding sneaked their way into her mind, past all that the news anchor said.

But it was happening, right before her eyes. Harper knew she couldn't stop him, it's a very addictive drug and he can do what he wants. In this moment, she wished she had at least tried to help him in another way because now, Nikki was gone.

That night, Harper forgot about going out with her friends, she didn't want to go anywhere. She stayed cooped up in her house, a stream of tears running down her cheeks as she cried and sobbed. Harper felt shitty and she was sure she cried almost the whole night, until she fell asleep.

It wasn't until the next day when there were reports that the overdose was, you could say, a "false alarm." Apparently, the ETM used two adrenaline shots and Nikki was awake in no time. When Harper found this out, she was enraged. All the sorrow and gloominess she felt vanished and was taken over by anger. She despised the move he pulled: overdosing and more than likely not even thinking of the many people who cared for him. That's how it usually was for people like Sixx; They didn't care about anyone or anything around them, only the next hit they were getting. Harper was indeed thankful for the amount of luck on his side, but that could run out easily and in a matter of time.

After the incident, Harper wanted nothing to do with Nikki or the guys. All the drama and bullshit she was constantly being surrounded by was starting to get to her. Also, she felt that if she met up with them, she would go off on all of them, more so Nikki. And harper didn't want to go through those feelings for a second time.
