Jeonghan POV

---------

On the way to the vet, Jisoo led Coco on a leash, so much time had passed since we got him and he's grown so much.

"Jisoo-yah, are you tired?" I asked because I've never seen him walk this much before since we met. He shakes his head, smiling his cute little smile I just adore so much. "You've got such cute lips." I giggle, and he furrows his eyebrows. "You're such a weirdo. Is it just me or have you just become more and more progressively flirtatious the more time we spend together?"

Well, he's not lying. "No, you've just gotten cuter and cuter, just like the not-so-little-anymore furball at our feet." He slaps my chest, sighing heavily.

"Are we almost there yet?"

"You tired?"

"Kind of."

Well, that was all I needed to pick Jisoo up and place Coco up on his stomach. "Hold on tight." As soon as I feel his hands lock behind my neck, I make sure nobody's around to see before running as fast as I can to the vet's building, Coco looking clearly shaken up and I quickly put them down before we went inside to the front desk. For a split second, I just felt something was missing. I'm not sure what it was but I just know it wasn't good.

--------

"Mr. Hong?" Jisoo basically jumped right up when he heard it, Coco and I trailing behind him.

We explain the problem to her as she starts pressing around his stomach as he whined in discomfort. "Oh dear..." A look of worry suddenly forms on his face. "What is it?" He asks frantically as I reach for his hand, knowing before the woman even speaks what she's going to say. "There seem to be, well, growths in his stomach."

Quickly pulling Jisoo into a hug, I ask, "Do you know what could be the cause of all this? Coco's really young, I find it slightly skeptical how he'd have... tumors.... at this age." and by this point, Jisoo's just sobbing into my shoulders. She shrugs and suggested, "We can't really tell at this point but would you like us to run some tests to find out whether they're malignant or benign?" she says this as she pulls out a sheet of paper for Jisoo to sign.

3rd Person POV

"You're keeping him overnight?" Jeonghan asks, clearly concerned. The woman nods, "We need him around so he can be tested as soon as he's on the top of the waiting list." with an expression of sadness, she says. "We'll call back as soon as he's been tested and I'll make sure he's treated well, ok?"

"It's ok, but if anything happens to him, I will find you and kill you, understand?"

The woman burst out laughing, "OMG, that's so funny!" she quickly regained her composure, and Jisoo himself couldn't really tell whether Jeonghan was serious or joking. At this point in time, he was kind of wishing he was serious. Especially after seeing her cross her legs rather suggestively while staring at Jeonghan.

He just can't help but attract girls wherever he goes, can he? Jisoo asked himself.

Jisoo kissed the Coco on his forehead, trying not to pay too much attention to his whines of protest at being handed over to an unfamiliar pair of hands. Jeonghan gave one last ear rub and said, "Hey buddy, it's gonna be alright, you'll be back home in no time." he pulled a small pouch out of his pocket and gave a handful of treats to the small dog before he was soon taken away and locked in a small cage. Jisoo tried not to react to the sharp barks of his puppy as he was being led away.

When they left the building, Jeonghan instantly pulled Jisoo into a hug. "Don't worry, alright?" The younger couldn't help but cry as he held onto Jeonghan, the air around them started to grow thick but he didn't notice. Obviously, Jeonghan did. "We should get out of here, I feel like we're being watched."

Jisoo didn't want to question Jeonghan, and so he nodded as they started to walk the long way back to their apartment building. Partway there, Jeonghan noticed Jisoo stiffening up all of a sudden, gasping audibly as if he'd just seen his worst nightmare right in front of him.

"Hyung, we need to get back home now." He whispered, his voice shaking. "What's wron-"

"Jeonghan, I'm not kidding, I'll tell you when we get back, just please, we need to get back home now!" Jisoo pleaded, the demon could hear the genuine terror in his voice and he knew that if he didn't act quickly, his partner could probably have a serious breakdown. Not caring if anyone saw, he quickly scooped him up and as fast as he could, ran all the way back up to their bedroom.

"Jisoo, do you want to tell me now?"

It was weird, for a split second, he felt like the air had never felt so light before, as if something was missing. But soon, that feeling returned but he had bigger problems on his mind.

Jisoo grabbed Jeonghan's hand as they sat in the middle of their bed. "I'm serious, I just saw Seokmin again but....But he looked like you...." Jeonghan, for the first time in what seemed like forever, felt unnerved. He didn't like the way Jisoo said that. "We passed a few buildings and in the alley of one, he was staring at me and smiling. But it was a smile I'd never seen before, it felt so...evil..."

Before he said anything else, Jeonghan asked, "What do you mean he looked like me?" he was getting a bad feeling about this. "He...He looked like a demon, his eyes were red, like yours and there was just something about him that was different." He wiped away some tears. "I know it was him, he was even wearing that same stupid old grey hoodie he always wears."

Jeonghan got up instantly, going to the kitchen and grabbing a knife. "Wh-what are you doing?! Don't hurt him!!" Jisoo yelled, running up to the older and grabbing the knife. "Relax. This is for your own good. If what you're saying is true, I don't believe that your Seokmin will be laying low any longer. I need to protect you in case he decides to do anything to hurt you."

"Seokmin would never hurt me! He's my frien-"

"Hong Jisoo, that was 2 years ago. If he's a demon now, he's definitely got more malicious intentions than just some stupid sleepover. He's angry and I can feel it." His grip on the knife tightened as he raised it to his palm. "I'm sorry, but I just want to keep you safe."

Slitting his palm, he let the blood flow for a while before placing it firmly against the wall. As he slid his hand across the wall, drawing a long line all encircling the whole house, he warned. "Don't break this line no matter what, this line of blood is the only thing that'll keep anything out. Or in."

"Do you understand?" He asked, his voice growing gentle. Jisoo nodded, knowing that he needed to believe Jeonghan because he'd never hurt him and he knew he only wanted the best for him. "Sorry for causing so much trouble."

"Don't be, it's not your fault."

Jisoo's eyes started tearing up as he grabbed Jeonghan's hand, examining the wound, his hand now wide open and mangled from dragging it along a rough surface for such a long distance. "Does it hurt?"

"Yes."

"Then why did you do it?"

"Because I need to protect you."
