"Your seats will change every two weeks, so there is no need to worry. These are not your permanent seats, do not freak out." Their class teacher, Mrs. Jung said when she heard groans and sighs from her students after she fixed their seats to her preferences. The class was small with only sixteen students, eight girls, eight boys and it was quite easy to change their seats; one girl with one boy and in that way, there will be less talking among the students.
Jinri was to sit beside Chanyeol who was yawning with his mouth open. "Oh shit," she murmured when she saw Jisoo making her way towards the vacant seat beside Sehun, just in front of hers. She poked Sehun's back which made the boy turn around to look back at her, "Yah, who's sitting beside you?"
"I don't know–"
"Hey!"
Sehun snapped his head towards that voice and gulped when he saw Jisoo smiling down at him. "Hi," she greeted him, "I'm gonna sit here."
He only nodded, gulping once again. Looking down on his hands on the lap, he took a deep breath and silently scolded himself for acting awkward around her since they were friends, and she was dating his step-brother, which made Sehun feel worse than he already felt.
"Hey, Yeol, you left this last day and brother asked me to give it to you," Jisoo turned around to pass a diary to Chanyeol whose eyes widened when he saw it.
"You didn't read anything, did you?" He asked, snatching the diary out of her hand to which she only chuckled.
"What if I did?" She asked when she saw him flipping through the pages of his dairy to check if everything was okay.
"No way. You didn't," He muttered under his breath.
"Why? What do you write inside?" Jinri asked out of curiosity.
"None of your business, Choi Jinri," Chanyeol made a face at her to which she chuckled. "So, how are things with Kai?" He faced Jisoo again who blushed faintly at the mention of his name.
"Okay, I guess." She replied shortly, unaware of what her short reply did to the boy right beside her, "He's nice."
"Nice? I told you this before and I'm telling you again, Kai is not a nice guy, he pretends to be one," Chanyeol stated and Jisoo sighed; they had gone through this a week ago already and he had failed to change Jisoo's mind. She had no idea why Chanyeol was being so persistent over this matter; just because Jimin had asked him to take care of her didn't mean he'd tell her whom to date or whom not to.
She turned around to face the blackboard but she could still hear him saying words she didn't want to hear. What was so wrong about dating Kim Kai, she had no idea. Her best friend, Choi Jinri had also warned her to not continue this, but they barely did start anything yet. She was starting to know more about Kai and vice versa and they seemed okay with everything so what was all these ranting about? He might have had some girlfriends before who were dumped in the most pathetic ways but she wanted to be an exception in his life.
Their first class was Math, which was not one of her favorite subjects but she didn't hate it either. The boy beside her hadn't yet uttered a word but she knew for a fact that Sehun was the best when it came for math. She looked forward on learning things from him; that is if he talks to her. From the first day she had met him, some twelve years ago, he had been all quiet and for a second she thought he really wasn't able to speak.
Her ideas changed when she saw Sehun playing football with Chanyeol and her brother and she was amazed at how the little boy was not only talking but shouting as well in their backyard when she was 10. He had never been close to her and most of the things she heard about Sehun was from Chanyeol, Jinri or her elder brother, Jimin.
