"Jisoo," He called out to her, a little hesitantly. He observed how she didn't respond to him and called her name again. As if in alarm, Jisoo turned around to meet his eyes, knowing the voice very well.
"Kai," his name rolled off her tongue in a whisper. "Umm.." she trailed away, not really knowing what to say. It hadn't even been two weeks that they had broken up and a little more than one week that she had received Sehun's confession. Every time she looked at Kai now, the fact that he was Sehun's step-brother played in her head. It made her feel a little uneasy and so she avoided both the brothers all together.
Kai looked to his left and then to his right, as if making sure no one was watching. He swiftly took hold of her hand, "We need to talk," he said before pulling her as he walked behind a large tree. Jisoo followed him without any question though she could feel her heart pounding against her chest. Kai took a seat under the shade of the huge tree and patted the spot next to him, looking up at her. She hesitantly sat down beside him, keeping a decent amount of space in between. "About that night," Kai started, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said those to you."
Jisoo scoffed at his words but didn't interrupt him when he continued. "Really sorry. I don't usually apologize so I'm sorry if it sounds artificial," he looked at her. "I'm sorry for everything. I never meant our relationship to go any further than what my other relationships went to. I'm sorry for playing around, I didn't know you were...different from all those girls. I'm really sorry."
Jisoo was a little stunned at the way he was uttering an apology in every of his sentence. It was as if the one sitting beside her wasn't Kai anymore. She knew for a fact that Kai was a made up name to match his style but didn't know his real name even though she had been his girlfriend for almost two months. She didn't know what to say when their eyes met. "I...It's okay," she mumbled, looking away.
"I knew you'd say that," Kai scratched his nape with a little smile on his face. "But, for once, can you tell me what's going on in your head? Shout at me, vent your anger on me. I wouldn't mind." He looked at her but her eyes weren't on him anymore. She was looking straight ahead with her bright eyes stuck on a guy who was, from the other side, staring at her as well. He saw disappointment in her eyes when Sehun looked away from the two of them. Sehun looked down at his feet as he walked away with that bag slung over his shoulders. "Earth to Jisoo," he smiled at the girl, tucking some strands of her hair behind her ear.
Jisoo turned to him, a little surprised when she saw those tender eyes and that genuine smile on his face. "Sehun likes you," he mumbled so that only she could hear, "You know, he is not a bad guy. At least not as bad as me," he let out a chuckle. "You should give him a chance. But again, it's all up to you. I'm not saying these because he's my brother, but because I just know he'd make you happy. He has it in him."
"Kai," she looked away with an evident blush on each of her cheeks. She sighed heavily before turning back to him, "I know." That's all she could manage to pronounce because the thought about what idea Sehun had gotten when he saw Kai and her together troubled her. She didn't want him to think that the two were getting back together and she didn't know why she felt that way. Maybe, just maybe, she had started liking him, seeing him in a different light. Sehun hadn't remained the same after that day. He came to school with a large grin and she was the first one he greeted that morning. He had gotten a lot of fan girls around the area but he wasn't really proud of that. He acted like the gentleman he was around them, turning down every confession letter with a sincere apology.
"I have only one more year left in this school," Kai sighed, "But I want to start all new." He looked at the girl who nodded to his words, "I don't want to be the bad boy anymore, Jisoo."
"That's...great," Jisoo replied, "How did you come to this realization, Kai?" She chuckled, almost mocking him.
"Kai brushed it away, giving her a smile in return, "I got bored of playing the bad boy."
