Princess in Disguise

Chapter 1

I woke up hearing the birds chirping from my window. I stood up and got out of bed. I went to the window and felt the warm summer breeze.

"Princess, Breakfast is ready". One of the maid said. "I'm coming!" I hurriedly step inside the bathroom and washed. Then, I put on my dress, fixed my hair and got out of my room.

There I saw Mom and Dad waiting for me at the table. "You woke up early as usual" my Dad said. "Heh, thank you for the compliment... DAD" I answered. Then he chuckles.

"Today is a very special and important day." Dad said while eating. "Why?" I questioned. "It's not Christmas yet. What's so important about today?"

"You see darling, today your father has announced through out the whole kingdom that you are gonna get married." Mom said and I was shocked and I quickly stood up.

"What?!" I yelled. "Rose! Where's your manner! Sit down and we'll talk about it." Dad remarked.

"No! What do you mean about this... marriage thing? I'm not ready for that! Mom! I..." Dad cut me out.

"This is for your sake Rose! The sake of our family and for the kingdom!"

"I don't care! This is not what I want! This is what you want! I want to enjoy and explore! Have fun"

"No! I am the King! So you should just follow and obey me!

"You are the King, but you were never my Father. You never acted like one. You don't care about me. All you think about is what's good for me! But it's not! I hate you!" I yelled and ran away.

"Rose! Come back here! Rose!..." my Dad sighed. "All I want is to have her life to be perfect."

"I know, but she doesn't need that kind of life. I hope you understand that our daughter doesn't want this. " my mother said and followed me.

I went to my secret garden and  I cried. Then I heard mommy's voice.
"Rose! Darling! Where are you?"

I took her hand. "Shhh" I said. We went inside and sat on the swing.



"Rose, I'm sorry about your father. He's just, y'know... I cut mom off.
"Yeah, I know. Why can't he just understand me. Is the kingdom more important rather than his daughter?!" I explained.

Mom patted my back. " Rose, it's just that your father is worried about you and he just wants the best of you."

"But it's not what I want mom! He wants it not me! I don't want anyone controlling me... I don't want this kind of life " I said then tears fell down on my face.

Mom hugged me. "Shhh...." She said and smiled. "Rose, look at me"
I looked at her while tears stream down my face.

"I don't like it when I see you cry. If my daughter is upset, then I'm upset too. Baby, don't cry... you're supposed to smile. Please smile for mommy. Please? " Mom asked.

"Even if I smile, that doesn't hide the sadness I feel." I said and look down.
Mom cupped my face and wipe my tears.

"Rose, go to the city." Mom said. I was shocked by what she just said and I couldn't response.

"Mo- what do you mean?" I questioned. "I said go to the city. Explore, have fun and learn." Mom smiled at me. I couldn't believe what she just said.

"But h-how about dad? Wouldn't he get mad or something?" I said.     "Don't worry, I got it all covered up."

I smiled and hugged mom. "Thank you, thank you very much mom. I love you."

"Your always welcome baby, anything for you. Let's go pack your things while your dad is working." Mom smiled and I nod.

We went outside of the garden and went to my room. I packed all my things. "Rose, take this with you." Mom said and she gave me money.

"Thank you mom." I smiled. "Hmm... now go on, pack your things. I'm going to escort you on the way to the airport. "

I finished packing and followed mom. We went outside the castle and got inside the car. A few moments later we arrived at the airport.

"You wait here." Mom told me to sit down. Then she came back with a passport in her hand. "Here" she said while handing me the passport.

"Have a safe trip, be on a look out okay? Take care of yourself, I will miss you." she smiled. " I'm going to miss you to mom." We hugged for a about a couple of seconds and let go.

"Now go...." She said and I nod.
I gave my passport to the lady. I was about to step inside the airplane then I heard mom saying " I love you Rose!"  while waving her hand.

I waved at her and went inside.
"New York city here I come" i said.
