Five minutes earlier.
"What do you mean by this, principal?" Tiana slammed the acceptance letter on the desk. Her brows furrowed toward the middle-aged man in front of her.
The man only shrugged, "What do you think, teacher Tiffany? Isn't it nice to be transferred to Japan where everything is more advanced than here?"
"You..." Tiana clenched her fists, trying to hold the urge to punch his face.
The vice principal butted in "That's right. The salary for teachers in there is also higher than here. You are the only one here who's able to talk and write in Japanese."
"Yeah, you should be grateful that we didn't kick you out all this time. You're too inexperienced."
"Now we have enough helping hands to teach the students. So we don't need you anymore."
"Your way of teaching is sucks. You let the students to play more instead of studying. This is not kindergarten!"
Other teachers began to complain about her openly. Their expressions showed disapproval.
At that point, there was a student passing through the corridor and hear their arguments coincidentally. Shocked, he went to spread the information.
"I am not doing this for money! I have my own reasons to teach here. You said my teachings sucks? Teach them the same subject and see who is better!" Frowning, Tiana punched the wall beside her. Leaving a hole about four centimeters on it.
The people inside the room gulped on their saliva. But the principal continued to talk serenely.
"You must reconsider your decision. Our school had been short of funds for a while. If you followed the arrangements, the funds we received will increase. Enough to accommodate the students for another six years."
Tiana flinched, as she knew that he was true. The middle school she worked in were receiving lesser funds than others regardless of its long history. The number of students who registered also decreased year by year.
"Fine then. But don't you dare to do anything silly to the students after my leave. They are our nation's future hope." Surrendering reluctantly, Tiana stomped out of the office moodily. Not willing to drag the conversation any longer.
After a minute passed, the vice principal's voice broke the silence. "Have we... Succeeded?"
"Seems like it."
"Yeah."
The people stared at each other in bewilderment and disbelief.
The principal's calm persona crumbled, replaced by a helpless expression. "She is usually as stubborn as a mule. If we didn't force her out with my last words just now, I'm afraid that she'll leave both Indonesia and Japan altogether instead."
"She's very talented in her age. I wouldn't want her to waste her time trapped within this small island when she was obviously in her prime."
Other teachers nodded, agreeing with his opinion. Now their faces seemed to be relieved.
"Indeed, we already have a fair share of world experiences. How can we let such a young woman to not have her share too? Just let it be us who continues on this duty to raise the future hopes."
As the people inside the room chatted comfortably, the person who leaned quietly behind the door bit her lower lip before taking her leave. No one noticed her presence from the beginning till the end.
.....
When Tiana reached the school gate, most of the students already gathered there. They blocked the gate together as they shouted in English.
