Chapter 11 - Project

-3 weeks later-

Demi's Pov

A few weeks have passed I have had quite a few text messages and phone calls from mom and dad asking if I'm ok. In one text mom explained that dad had been a little short tempered of late and that he felt bad for reacting the way he did towards me.

We are meeting up with them again today. I felt better now about showing my pregnancy around them as they weren't going to judge. We were going to the park for a picnic and Madison was coming along to. She hadn't been at home when I told my parents as she was at a friend's house that day.

Just then I got a phone call from mom. "Hey Demi" she said when I answered

"Hi mom, how are you?" I replied

"We're all good, just wanted to run something by you that could be a little bit of fun"

"What's that?" I asked as I placed one hand lightly on my stomach

"Your dad and I were thinking about having a little bit of fun with Madison. We haven't told her about your pregnancy and we think she's old enough to try to guess" she continued

"Ohhh" I said "You want to see how long it'll take for her to notice?" I asked

"Yeah, exactly. Maybe you could just meet up with us normally. Don't try to hide your pregnancy or anything just wear what you wanna wear.But maybe just make it more and more obvious as the day goes on?" mom suggested

"What by like putting my hand on my stomach and things like that?" I asked

"Yeah, exactly!" mom replied. There was a small pause before mom said "Ok well Madison is ready so we'll see you soon"

"Ok, love you" I replied

"Love you too" mom said before hanging up the call

"What was that all about?" Olivia said as she walked in the room

"Mom wants to play a game with Madison, she wants to see how long it'll take for her to guess that I'm pregnant."

"Ohhh that could be fun" Olivia laughed

"Yeah" I replied

We finished getting ready and then headed to the park. I was wearing my maternity jeans and a slightly baggy pink top. You could see a small bump in certain angles.

We met up with everyone and then mom put out the picnic blanket. "Demi you're looking lovely today" mom said as she winked at me

"Thanks mom! I got this new top yesterday" I replied

Madison looked over, "yeah I love the top" she said

"Thank you" I replied

We all sat and ate lunch, this was probably the time that Madison would guess that I was pregnant because after I ate I always felt a bit sick and my stomach always became more pronounced.

I got up to help fold up the blanket but I came over all faint and had to quickly sit back down again. "Sorry" I said "I'm a little dizzy"

"Mom took my hand and helped me over to a bench in the shade as dad, Olivia and Madison helped to fold the blanket up. They came over and I stood up."Feeling better" Olivia said in a concerned tone

"Yes thank you, I just feel a bit bloated now. I probably got up a bit too quick"

I looked over at Madison who's eyes were fixed on my stomach. "What?" I said to Madison

"There's something different about you" she said looking at my face now

"What do you mean?" I laughed

"Well, feeling bloated, dizzy and I've just noticed, your stomach is bigger. Are you..."

"Am I what?" I asked

"Pregnant?" Madison continued her previous sentence

"Yeah" I smiled

"You are?" she said as her face lit up and she looked at everyone for confirmation

Everyone nodded their heads. "You all knew this?" Madison asked

"Yes" mom laughed "It was my idea, we wanted to see how long it would take for you to notice. You did pretty well to be honest"

"Thanks" Madison said feeling proud "But what? Demi, how many weeks are you?" she asked

"15" I replied

"OMG, that's amazing!"Madison said with a huge smile across her face

We all begun to walk across the grass, Olivia holding my hand. We got into the car and we drove back to my parent's house to spend some time there. 

We all sat down in the living room, Olivia sat one side of me and Madison on the other.

"Madison says she got a few questions for you"

"Yeah, sorry Demi. I've never known anyone who is pregnant and we are going to be learning about pregnancy properly again in school soon. We have to do a research project and everything"

"That's cool. What will your project be about?"

"Well we either need to gather information about someone who is or has been pregnant. We need to ask them about each stage of their pregnancy"

"Ask me? Get the questions you need from your teacher and I'll come around and you can ask me?"

"OMG thank you Demi! That would be amazing!"

I looked over at mom and dad who were sitting on the other couch, smiling. I looked back at Madison who was looking at my stomach. She looked back up at my face and said "What does it feel like?"

"Hard" I replied as I grabbed her hand and placed it onto my stomach

"I've got an idea!" mom said "As Maddie needs to do a project would it be nice to take a picture of you showing your stomach and her holding a board that says how many weeks you are?"

"OMG yes please Demi?" Maddie said liking the idea

"Ok" I said as I got up "We need to go soon so we can either get a picture now or we can start from next week as I have a scan anyway" I said

"Let's start from today, the day Maddie found out. She can write about how and where she found out?" mom suggested

"Ok" I agreed

Mom went and fetched a wipe clean board and then drew the words '15 weeks' in bold bubble lettering. She got her camera out and got me to stand against a plain wall. I stood sideways and placed my back hand on my stomach and Maddie stood next to me holding the wipe clean board in her hands and smiling. We both smiled for the picture.

Soon afterwards Olivia and I left. We got home and got into bed as we were both tired and still not hungry as there was a lot of food at the picnic. I smiled as she fell asleep, I was so lucky to have her and this baby.
