Something doesn't feel right.
Taehyung's hand is intertwined with Jeongguk's, and thankfully it's night time and crowded so nobody can really see them.
However, something's bothering Taehyung ever since they left the ferris wheel and he doesn't know what.
"You okay?" Jeongguk asks, his brows creasing slightly noticing how quiet he's being. Taehyung glances at him and nods.
"Yeah, nothing's wrong," Taehyung says, checking behind them again. Jeongguk happens to notice this, his grip on Taehyung's hand tightening.
"Okay, seriously, what's wrong with you?" Jeongguk frowns, stopping them and pulling them out of the crowded pathway to a space between two tents.
"Nothing," Taehyung repeats, squeezing his hand, assuring him. Jeongguk raises an eyebrow at him. Taehyung sighs, "I'm not lying."
"If there's someone here, we can always stop," Jeongguk tells him, his voice softening. He feels his breath hitch as Jeongguk's about to release their hands, but Taehyung's much faster.
"Love, there isn't," Taehyung quickly grabs his hands, holding them tighter in his own but still makes sure to not hurt him. "Nobody's following us."
Jeongguk stays quiet, his dark eyes darting between his own and the ground. Taehyung removes his hand and carefully reaches forward, brushing aside Jeongguk's fringe. A small smile appears on Jeongguk's face almost instantly, making his heart flutter.
"I promise, if there's something wrong I will always protect you," Taehyung whispers, gently cupping the side of his face. He tilts Jeongguuk's face up so that their faces are parallel.
"You don't have to," Jeongguk giggles cutely, the skin around his nose crinkling. Taehyung chuckles, caressing the curve of his cheek with the pad of his thumb.
"Well I do," He presses a short kiss to his forehead, smiling all the way. "I'll protect you from all the bad guys and all the meanies."
"Wow what if you're being a meanie then?" Jeongguk asks, patting his chest with his free hand, his lips pulling in the brightest smile.
Taehyung snorts, patting his cheek, "Then I'll die and you have to love somebody else."
"Please don't," Jeongguk's doe eyes widen. Taehyung feels his stomach twist, the admiration he has for the boy making his heart race.
"I won't," Taehyung assures him and this time, he kisses him. Taehyung wishes to kiss him longer, but a faint click in the distance sends him staggering back.
"Are you okay?" Jeongguk asks, now fully concerned as Taehyung takes his small hand in his and practically bolts out of the little space. He says nothing, focusing on getting far into the crowd.
"Taehyung answer me," Jeongguk calls his name, but Taehyung's busy searching the crowd for a familiar face. Now Jeongguk's shaking his arm, begging him to tell him what's wrong.
