If Only You Knew

Chapter 1

" Bro I'm not coming. I can't come. My brother's sick and my mom's got working in the night shift. My dad won't be home till two am. I can't leave my siblings alone at home." I say. Ian, my best friend says " But why? How about I come over and we play?" I say " My mom said that nobody can come over when she's not around." Ian says " You don't go around telling your parents everything." I say " Well I don't like doing this to my parents. I'm sorry but I can't." and I get out of the car. I bump into a poker face girl and she says " Are you blind?" I say " Well no Mrs. Whatever. I just happen to get out of the car the same time as you decided to pass by the car." She sighs and she walks away. Girls. Really.

" I've never seen her before. Probably a new student." says Ian. I say " How does it matter?" and we go to meet our friends. 

" I'm staying back to help in picking the photos for the newspaper." I say. Sam says " Will you be coming this evening for Joe's party?" I say " No. I have work after this." Ian says " It's boring when your not around bro." Roger says " He's right. Can you at least come for an hour?" I say " I'll try." and we have lunch. I spot that girl who I bumped into this morning. She's busy writing something. She sits alone and she has that same expression she had in the morning. It looks more bored that poker faced. She looks around the cafeteria and she looks back at what she was writing.

I get up and I walk towards her table. Then I grab a chair and I sit opposite her. She says " What?" with out looking at me. I say " You're a new student?" She says " No." I say " Never seen you here before." She says " I keep a very low profile." I ask " Why?" She looks at me and she says " Because I want to." I raise an eyebrow but she doesn't look at me. After a while she sighs and says " What do you want?" I say " Tell me something about you." She looks at me and says " Why?" I say " For my information." She says " Whatever." and she gets up taking her bag and her tray with her and she throws what's in her tray in the bin and she gets out of the cafeteria. 

I get back to my table and Ian says " What was that all about?" I say " Nothing." and I smile.

 " So we'll add this picture of the swim team on the cover because they made it to Nationals and we can put the picture of the soccer team in the next page because they came third in regionals." says Melissa who's the news paper editor of our school's news paper. I say " Okay." and she makes the necessary changes. Then she says " You can go now. I'll have this published by tomorrow. Good job. You worked hard." I say " Thanks." and I pack my bag. Then I leave the room. 

I walk out of school and I notice that girl from before. She sitting on top of a tree and writing something. What is she doing on top of a tree? " Hey." I shout. She looks at me and says " Now what?" I say " What are you doing on top of a tree?" She says " Why do you need to know everything?" I say " You're not supposed to be sitting on top of these trees. It's school property." She sighs and climbs down. Then she says " Why are you so annoying?" and she walks away. Am I annoying?

I walk towards her and say " I prevented you from getting into trouble." She says " You never leave me in peace." I let out a light laugh and says " That's because I see you everywhere I go." She says " You have a funny laugh." I smile and say " Really?" She says " Yeah. Reminds me of someone." To continue the conversation I say " When did you join this school?" She says " Last year. I came in as freshman." I say " How did I not notice you?" She says " As I told you before, I keep a low profile." I say " Right." then I say " So where are we heading of to?" as I don't have any idea as to where we're heading. She says " If you'll stop following me I can go where I want to." and she looks at me, really annoyed. I say " Okay. See you tomorrow." and I turn around to walk back home.

" So it's one big burger without ketchup, one large Coke, one small fries and one parfait." I say. The lady says " That's right." and I say  " That will be $7.67 ma'am." She hands me the money and I give her back the change. Then I say " Next." and I take the next order. Yes I work at a fast food restaurant. I do this to earn extra cash because my parents stop giving us pocket money once we turn 16. I work at a place called 'Joe's Food.' Yeah a boring name but they sell pretty good burgers and we get free dinner everyday which is great because I get to eat delicious burgers everyday although it is not good for health.

There are no customers right now and it's past my working time so I change my clothes and I have dinner. Then I walk towards home. My phone rings and I answer it.

Hey! You done working?!

Yeah. Why?

You have to head to Ryan's house! Now!

I'm not coming. Besides Ryan's annoying.

You seriously have to come! They're having a beer competition. Ian's competing with Ryan!

WHAT? HE'S COMPETING WITH RYAN? IS HE CRAZY?

Yes he's competing with Ryan! You have to see this! It looks like Ian's winning!

What is wrong with Ian? He's competing with the biggest dick of our school? 

I barge into Ryan's house and I search for Sam. It's easy to search for them because there's a huge crowd in the middle of Ryan's living room. I move through the crowd and I find Roger recording the whole thing while Sam's cheering for Ian. Sam looks at me excitedly and says " Looks like Ryan's going to pass out soon." I say " You guys are drinking?! What's wrong with you'll?!" Sam grins at me and says " Grab a beer brah!" They're drunk too. Ryan passes out in no time and Sam shouts saying " Ian wins!" I get back to my car and I open the door. Then I grab Roger first and I put him inside. I get Sam and then Ian in my car and I lock the doors. Then I drive to drop them to they're houses. The problem is how to get them in with out they're parents knowing. 

We reach Ian's house first since it's the closest to Ryan's house and I get out of the car. Then I lock the door so they don't come out. I climb up to Ian's window and I try unlocking the door. I fail miserably. I wait near the window for a few minutes and then realize that Ian has an older sister. I call her and she comes to Ian's room and she opens the window. Then she says " He's crazy." I say " Crazier than you think he is. Are your parents sleeping?" She says " They're actually out of town. I say " Great. You open the door while I forcefully get Ian inside your house." She says " Right." and she let's me through the window and I get out of Ian's house. I get back to my car and I unlock the door. Then I pull Ian out and I harshly close my car door. Damn it. I hope I didn't damage the door. 

I forcefully push Ian towards his door and he says " What are you doing bro? Did I piss you of? That's painful!" he drank too much beer. His sister just nods her head and sighs. We manage to remove his shoes and get him to lie in his bed. His sister says " Thank you so much for bringing him back safely." I say " Your welcome." and I head out of their house. I have no idea as to how I'm going to get Sam and Roger back in their beds with out they're parents knowing.
