"Ameliaaaa!" My grandma yelled from the kitchen.
"Yes, Yes I'm up!" I yelled back hurriedly running to my closet and throwing on my uniform for school.
I bolted down the hall and ran into the kitchen.
"I didn't have enough money for food yesterday so I-" my grandmother started but I cut her off.
"It's okay granny I'll just get a apple from Lewy." I kissed her on her cheek understandingly of our situation and ran out the door.
"Love you!" I left. I could hear a faint "love you too, have a good day at school." From granny as I was out the door.
I quickly started to walk. In my neighborhood you have to do that. Hell in my city you have to do that. Except for the people who live beyond the gates. I bet those people don't have to worry about anything. Not if they're not gonna have a ride or where they're next meal will come. No, all they have to worry about is if their clothes are wrinkled.
I wonder how it is for those gate kids.
"Heyyyyy Amelia!" One of the gangbangers who live a few apartments away from me yelled. I ignored him. And now in started to speed up my walk. I heard his footsteps getting closer. Seconds later I felt hands on my shoulders.
I hurried up and smacked the hands off of me.
"Get your hands off of me!"
His face grew mad.
"Come on Amelia, skip school and stay with me." He came in closer and I backed away.
"Your not my family and damn sure not my friend so it's Milo to you, first of all. And second who do I look like skipping an education to hang out with a low life like you? Boy please, bye!"
I went to turn around but something gripped my elbow.
"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKIN TO LIKE THAT SHAWTY?"
"GET OFF OF ME!"
Luckily his skanky girlfriend 'Cherry' came to the rescue.
"Hey baby what's going on?"
She came out with a baby on her hip. His whole attitude changed and a smile was placed on his face.
"Nothing, this little bitch was tryin one on me again." He looked me up and down. Cherry came out, went up to him and sloppily kissed him. After that she got in my face and I backed mine away form hers. Seriously what's up with these people and personal space.
"I've been seeing you out'cher walkin wit yo little ass out in these damn skirts, tryin to show off." As she said her sentence she swatted at my skirt, that's literally apart of the stupid uniform.
"Watchu tryin to do? Take peoples mans?"
"No Cherry." I said a bit rude. And yes on purpose. And yes it worked. Her faced turned more into a frowning anger.
"Listen here you little bitch, if I see you lookin at my mans again. Imma beat yo ass, okay?
"Y-Yes miss Cherry. I'm shaking just thinking about it." I told her sarcastically and making faces.
