And the heart was heavier than a sinful soul,
Darker than a moonless night,
Yet it pretended, and yet it feigned,
It tried to feel, it tried to beat,
But the darkness immersed it in its spell,
And the heaviness pulled it down, deep down.
The door was pulled shut now, all the windows closed,
No light reached inside, no warmth penetrated,
It was cold inside, all sad and morose
