Just outside of town, Brand pulled over and shook Jenn. She stirred, stretched her arms overhead and ran her hands through her hair. Brand then reached over the back seat and shook Petras who jolted awake and jumped from the car. Jenn climbed into the back seat, pulled the seat release, folded down the seat back and crawled into the trunk. Brand climbed over the seat and followed her. Petras leaned over from the driver's seat and shut them in. Brand set his watch. It would take fifteen minutes for Petras to drive the rest of the way to the nautical museum and pull the car into its garage.
Despite Jenn's earlier comment about being claustrophobic she seemed unfazed by the confinement and close quarters. Brand knew seasoned agents who could sit stone-faced with a gun pointed at their chest, but could not take five minutes in an enclosed space.
Once in the garage Petras popped the trunk. They were again warmly greeted by Ripps, who shook hands as if he hadn't only hours before seen them. He talked like an excited schoolboy, gesticulating widely like a flight attendant giving safety instructions, directing Brand and Slater. He spoke to Petras only, calling him by a fictitious name.
"I'm so pleased you've taken me up on my offer to show you the results of your investment, Mr. Rodricks. You'll see that we've spared no effort to pinpoint the wreckage. It looks very promising."
Once back inside the room through the blue door, Ripps and Petras helped Brand and Jenn into the storage containers, which were stacked side by side on utility cart. Ripps whispered to Jenn, "As soon as we're underway, I'll come below and let you both out."
Jenn whispered back, "There are plenty of air-holes, right?"
"Absolutely," Ripps said.
