Sanem woke up, stretching languidly, a smile stretching across her face as she remembered the night before. She and Can had forgiven each other and agreed to start over. She rolled over and buried her face in her pillow, letting out a short squeal.
"Abla?! What's this?"
Sanem lifted her head to see Leyla peeking in on her, concern written all over her face. Sanem bound straight up and laughed, patting the seat beside her. Leyla couldn't help but smile in response to Sanem's wide grin as she walked over and sat beside her sister.
"Abla? Ne oldu?"
Sanem held her hands to her chest and sighed happily.
"Can and I are back together."
"Ne?!" Leyla shouted in shock. Sanem shushed her, throwing her hands over Leyla's mouth, and aiming a nervous look at the door. Leyla struggled beneath Sanem's hands. She finally knocked them off and gasped for air.
"Ne yapıyorsun, Sanem?! You suffocate me!" She snapped, smoothing down the hair Sanem had mussed.
Sanem shrugged her shoulders and grimaced.
"Sorry, sorry. But stop shouting. If Anne or Baba hear you, they'll be here with a million questions."
"Tamam, tamam." Leyla said, knowing her sister was right.
"GIRLS!? IS EVERYTHING OKAY!!?"
Mevkibe's voice boomed from downstairs, and Sanem's head snapped towards Leyla, glaring at her.
"Bravo, Leyla! Bravo! Maybe next time you can shout into a megaphone so that Melihat can hear too." She said dryly, shaking her head.
Leyla grimaced and apologized.
"Finish telling me about your night!"
Sanem grinned and leaned forward.
By the time she was done, Mevkibe had bustled up to the room and was throwing the door open, eyeing them suspiciously.
"Why are you up here, whispering?" She asked, fishing for information.
The girls shrugged it off innocently. With a hmph that let them know she wasn't buying it, Mevkibe shrugged it off and hurried downstairs to eat with her husband before the day started.
Sanem and Leyla glanced at each other as soon as the door closed and laughed quietly. They high-fived and Leyla bounced on the bed.
"So what happens next?" She asked excitedly.
Sanem shrugged, the smile never leaving her face.
"I don't know and I don't care. Can and I are back together and there's nothing else that can tear us apart now. All of our secrets are out. It's just me and Can now."
Leyla hugged her sister, thrilled for her. But of course, she had to be the voice of reason.
"And Huma hanim."
Sanem grinned wider.
"That's just it. Can called her last night to tell her we were reuniting and she flew back to Europe. You know I said I wanted Can to have a relationship with his mother, but she made it impossible. I've never known a mother who had so little interest in her child's happiness. Besides, Anne loves Can. She can be like his mother too."
Leyla was secretly thrilled to have Huma hanim gone, since it would make things that much easier on her and Emre.
"You're right. We were lucky. Our parents both love us and only want us to be happy. At least Can and Emre have that with their father. Did Can tell you? Aziz bay called and told Emre he'll be home at the end of the week."
