// BIG HINT FOR THE ENTIRE PLOT OF THIS BOOK IS IN THIS CHAPTER LMAO //
"so you're just gonna put these on every single day?" micheal raised his eyebrows at aubree, who nodded.
"basically, yeah," she shrugged. "they're pretty cheap, so it's not as if i'm gonna become bankrupt."
"but isn't that like, a lot of work for the morning?" he questioned, and aubree rolled her eyes.
"put your head in my lap, babe," she patted the tops of her thighs, and michael obeyed, seeming even more like a kitten as he lent his head into her hands as they ran through his hair.
"aud," michael finally spoke, and it sounded like a purr in aubree's ears. "why haven't we kissed or anything?"
"because you're my best friend, silly," aubree laughed, tickling the stubble on michael's chin. "best friends don't kiss. why?"
"i was watching this movie yesterday," michael opened his eyes, immediately catching aubree's gaze. "and they were like best friends, just like us, and then like, one day they just kinda kissed and realized they were in love with eachother."
"are you trying to tell me something, michael?" aubree laughed quietly, tapping michael's nose.
michael screwed up his face everytime she touched his nose, letting out quiet giggles. "no, i was just curious, you know?"
"well, how about i kiss you, and we find out?" aubree's fingers went to the edge of michael's lips, and she started tracing around them as he smiled.
"you've changed since you dyed your hair," he shook his head, and aubree let out a quiet giggle.
"in a good way, or?"
"in a good way, yeah," he nodded, closing his eyes again.
aubree saw the opportunity, and leaned down awkwardly, pressing her lips to michael's quickly. michael barely had time to pucker his lips back before aubree pulled away, tapping two fingers on her jaw.
"so, on the count of three, we've gotta say if we felt anything, okay?" she spoke a few seconds later, and michael nodded.
"one," he started, "two... three."
"no."
"yes."
"oh my god," aubree whispered, "michael? you felt something?"
"yeah," michael began to laugh, "i felt my boner die."
"you asshole!" aubree squealed, "i was so scared for a second there!"
michael eventually calmed down, and closed his eyes again, enjoying the feeling of aubree's hands playing with his hair once more. one of her hands left his hair, and he let out a quiet groan of disapproval, which caused aubree to laugh.
"calm down, hon," she shook her head, grabbing one of the fake tattoos that was next to her. "it'll be back before you know it."
michael nodded, letting out a happy sigh and relaxing.
aubree peeled the backing off of the tattoo, placing it on michael's forehead as softly as she could manage. she dabbed at his forehead with the damp sponge that they'd used for her arm tattoos, a small smile on her face. once she was content that it would be printed on his forehead, she peeled off the backing, a smile coming on her face as she saw the small heart print.
"why are you smiling like that?" michael questioned, and aubree changed her cheeky grin into a innocent smile.
"no reason," she batted her eyelashes. "just thinking about you and pizza and luke."
"i'm sure," he rolled his eyes, "is it at least a manly tattoo?"
"it's a heart."
"i hate you, aud."
// i don't know why i made them kiss but i did sO //
the next day at school, aubree's head was spinning. everyone was looking at her, and giving her all this attention, which was something she wasn't used to.
she hung onto michael for dear life, her hand clasped tightly around his, and every so often (when aubree thought she saw luke) being squeezed so tight he almost lost circulation. but, it's not as if he was complaining.
suddenly, luke exited a classroom, and was stood right in front of aubree and michael. aubree let out a high pitched squeal, dropping michael's hand instantly.
"hey, aubree, you look good," luke smiled widely at aubree, checking her out from top to bottom. "i picked you out some new shirts and jeans and stuff, they're in my locker."
aubree frowned slightly when he mentioned her new clothing, he hadn't even mention her new look, and the whole point of her changing was to impress him.
"thank you," she smiled nonetheless. "i have free period fifth, i can grab them then, if you're free?"
"yeah, sure," luke smiled back. "and i'm not really a worker at the store, my dad kinda manages the store."
"i know, michael told me," aubree laughed a little, "i don't understand why you didn't just tell me."
"because some people just want a discount," luke laughed too, and it was like music to aubree's ears.
"dude, your dad manages a store, it's not as if you're hannah montana," michael exclaimed. "jesus fuck."
aubree let out a loud snort, elbowing michael and playfully telling him off for being rude.
"just saying," michael shrugged as the warning bell for first lesson rang. "come on, aud, we have math."
"alright," luke smiled warmly at aubree and michael. "michael, i also picked you up this striped sweater, it was the last one in your size, so."
"cheers," michael nodded, disregarding how creepy it is that luke knew his size, and took aubree's hand back in his, walking away. "see you fifth."
"maybe we could all go for pizza after?" luke followed the two down the hall. "calum hood, ashton irwin and i are starting a band, and word on the street is you play guitar, mike."
"the word on the street would be correct," aubree spoke with pride. "michael is so good at guitar, and he can sing too! and he writes songs, oh my god, he is super talented, and-"
michael covered aubree's mouth with his hand, a small smile on his mouth, and pink all over his cheeks. "shh, audrey, i got this." michael turned around so he was facing luke, raising an eyebrow. "i'll join your band, just as long as you take aubree out on a date."
aubree made a loud sound of disapporoval, not being able to voice it because of michael's hand, and luke laughed at the pair.
"you two are so cute," he shook his head. "alright, i'll pick her up saturday at six?"
"make it seven, saturday is normally our baking day. she'll be covered in flour and sugar," michael smiled at aubree, whos cheeks were flushed a bright red.
"saturday at seven," luke nodded. "got it." he winked at aubree, then continuing to walk to his own lesson.
michael removed his hand from aubree's mouth, and she launched herself at him, the older boy cradling her in his arms as he hugged him tightly.
"thank you, thank you, thank you," aubree repeated over and over, practically vibrating with excitement.
michael looked at aubree with regret in his stomach. he knew about luke's track record - he wasn't the best with girls. at all. well, maybe it would help aubree come to her senses? michael shrugged.
"you're welcome, babe. come on, we're gonna be late."
